I got the Canon PIXMA iX6820 printer and my iPad on the GL inet network. My phone recognized my printer and vice vers. I was able to print butI kept getting kicked out of the Admin Panel, while trying to find the printer or trying to print. I repeatedly had to go back to chrome and sign in to the admin panel. I just got the gl iNet app but I haven’t been able to tether my iPhone to it (it may be the cord I’m using) How do I make the connection more reliable?
Right now it takes a lot of steps to find the printer on the GL iNet network so I can print from my phone without WiFI. Is there a shorter way to do this?
Here are the steps:
- Delete Canon Print app and redownload it
- Plug in mini router to power
- Connect mini router to iPhone via usb- to lightening cable
- Connect iPhone to mini router's wifi
- open google chrome
- go to mini router's admin page
- enter password
- select tether to iPhone wait for tethering to be enabled
- Double check iPhone is still on mini router's wifi
- On pixma ix6820 hold the wifi button until the power lamp blinks twice the power lamp should be lit steady and the blue wifi button should be blinking (ready to connect to wifi)
- Go to Canon Print app
- Search/add printer
- Select YES Join Canon Set up wifi It will redirect and ask to join mini router's wifi
- Enter mini router's wifi password (which is different from the password for the admin panel you signed into earlier)
- At this point you probably have to go back and sign into the mini router's admin panel in google chrome because it signs you out automatically and frequently.
- If I’m lucky, I connect both the phone and the printer to the mini router's wifi and I can print. It hasn't worked consistently for me. Let me know if there is an easier way to connect to the mini router's wifi and stay logged in to it's admin panel.
Thanks!
