Using Spitz Plus as a failover connection

Hi

I've been beta testing the new Spitz Plus and it's been going really well. Now to put it to good use.

For a while now I've been looking at making my home network more robust and the Spitz looks like the way to go, failing over to LTE when the ISP connection to my main router fails. However, I'm struggling to find out how to add it to the mix.

My main router is a Brume 2 (so 1 WAN port and 1 LAN port) with connections to my ISP and a managed switch which serves to connect wifi, CPE, NAS etc. All plain vanilla - no VLANs.

The Plus has quite a basic hardware specification compared with the Brume 2 so I don't want to just use the Plus as my main router - I want to continue to use a higher spec device.

If the lack of ports on the Brume 2 is an issue I've got a spare Slate AX that (I understand) can be configured via Luci to convert one of the LAN ports to WAN giving me two WAN ports.

If anyone could give me any pointers I'd be really greatful!

Looks like many main routers model can choose.

But according to your requirements, first you required 2 WANs port on the main router, probably the Slate AX is the best main router, or directly choose the Spitz Plus as the main router (priority link is wired WAN from ISP and itself modem is the backup)

Thanks Bruce, It looks like this isn't as simple as I imagined. So I've just ordered an M2 5G board and I'll connect that to the Burme 2. This will also give me the flexability of being able to use 5G when traveling - I usually take a Beryl AX with a Mudi 2 for 5G but this will be more compact and have far better reception. I've found (what looks like) a good aluminium enclosure which should take the board with a bit of drilling for the antenna and ports.

Spitz Plus DHCP disabled > Brume 2 drop in DHCP gateway > rest of network?

That's the way I'd configure it.

I'll give that a crack! Thanks
