Just received the Comet Pro. Upgraded firmware to 1.7 release 2. Initial setup appeared smooth. Mouse and keyboard is connected to Mac Studio. KVM connected to NUC 8 on same network. Just want to share mouse and keyboard. The problem I have is starting a session. I launch the KVM IP address and it says no HDMI data. That’s expected. Then I turn on the NUC 8. About 20% of the time it will see the launch screen and I have mouse and keyboard. Most of the time I have no HDMI data or just a screen that never updates. Other times I have video but no keyboard or mouse. Or I have video but just no mouse. So very inconsistent. Spent 3 hours trying all the different video settings, I believe that Web RTC and H.264. Didn’t change the behavior though H.264 is slower to update. If I turn off then turn on mouse to try to recover the mouse it doesn’t help and usually corrupts the screen or keyboard. Other times when changing screens the video gets all corrupted. Only solution each time is a restart of the KVM.
So far, very disappointed. Software seems like late alpha or very early beta. In it’s current state really not usable for me.
I’m having similar issues with my pro from kickstarter as well. In addition to similar connection stability issues mentioned here, the device doesn’t work at all on 5ghz WiFi. It does connect via ethernet or 2.4ghz, but when connected to 5ghz, it shows a connection on the display but doesn’t respond on its IP.
I had this issue with the Comet Pro. I thought it had to do with the device or firmware. Try using Google Chrome to access the host, not Safari - this solved the issue for me.
Does the device successfully get an IP from 5Ghz WIFI, but it cannnot access the Internet for remote access? Or you cannot locally access to it via this IP.
I was on a wired connection but still had unreliable connections…especially the initial connection. I was using Firefox as the browser…don’t have Chrome loaded.
Do not use direct h264 on Firefox; Firefox's implementation has noticeable performance issues. Additionally, smart mode does not work properly on Firefox.
You can assume that, basically, Firefox is not recommended for use.
So, still not able to connect over 5ghz wifi, including using chrome (on Mac). Just wanted to mention I also have a Comet PoE which works perfectly, so that’s been my point of reference for comparison to the Comet Pro.
Yes, WebRTC and normal mode seem to work OK with Firefox!! Thanks you. As far as working when the connected PC is starting up, if I watch the icons in the lower right of the screen that represent HDMI, keyboard, and mouse and make sure i supply activity so the icons turn from yellow to blue then the KVM seems to work OK. I’ll use it like this for a while and report back with issues.
