VPN-ProtonVPN config-wireguard-android TV

...thought i had it fixed, was wrong...

Im using the New Marble B-3000 GLinet router and I have managed to get the config files from my paid protonvpn, and uploaded it to the wireguard client

Laptops, dekstops, IOT's all work fine...its just the darn TV that does not work?

Im using the chromecast and when the VPN is on via the router, it prevents all apps from working. Some state im using a VPN or AD and asking me to turn these off, others simply say connection error.

It's stupid, because I need the VPN on to protect all my devices. When I turn off the VPN im exposed, "naturally" and whats worse, I end up still seeing the same error and connection issue on the android TV?

  1. I have forced the apps to stop, cleared cache and data files for apps that i wish to watch in their settings, refreshed and tried loading them up again. No luck.
  2. i uninstalled the app and reinstalled, no luck
  3. i restarted the andtroid tv, no luck
  4. i restarted the router, no luck
  5. i looked at the routers VPN settings making sure global is turned off and that no other VPN settings are conflicting with the android tv. No luck
  6. I assigned a static IP, pointless but worth a try, no luck
  7. on the actual android tv I went to the protonvpn settings and performed 2 different modes for split tunneling, no luck
  8. I used windows and linux to add the static IP or dynamic IP of the TV in an IP address + feature protonpvn has to avoid VPN conflict, no luck...

Im fresh out of ideas...

Oh and i changed the config files to several other different types of VPN for that region (UK) because I need BBCiplayer to load and work. This said, the VPN on the router prevents other apps from loading not just BBCiplayer...

When I turn off the VPN via the router, some apps such as netflix, prime and disney work but still BBCiplayer does not want to load and constantly says connection error

What is the VPN policy of the router you use?

Some APPs of the Android TV denies the VPN connection, to protect their content, probably the APP would block the connection if it checked VPN enabled. So please try to use VPN client based on device MAC address, and the TV in the 'do not use VPN'.

Are you saying that regardless vpn, your bbc iplayer does not work when connected to the router?

Your previous post says you set up routing split etc. Can you describe again what did you do?

The router is marble b3000, your new home router
Im currently experimenting with client config files from proton vpn through wireguard
Second method using wireguard server but the outcome is exactly the same
If I use my smart phone, I can mirror cast bbc I player and works
But directly from tv it won’t, says connection error and yes they protecting their app I guess

Yep but via smart phone I can cast and then it’s ok on tv but not direct

Got a few config files from proton VPN and put them in wireguard client. These are paid proxies not free
I have also used wireguard server cos the client caused problems with other apps as well
BBC I played is the main app causing problems
All vpns are coming from the marble b3000 home router from GLiNET
I have tried split tunnelling but this does not work
Tried using it on the chrome cast directly in TV
Tried via windows and Linux
Tried manually IP assigned
Out of luck
