WDS Mode or Repeater Mode?

Hello,

I am currently using the Flint 3 and it's a beast. No issues whatsoever! I do have a Flint 2 sitting in the closet and I would like to use it as WDS Mode or Repeater Mode. I read somewhere that Repeater Mode can be used as a “router.” Is this true of WDS Mode as well?

Which mode would most people recommend?

Here’s an introduction to network modes that may be helpful:

In short:

  • Repeater runs in router mode. It creates a separate subnet, and other router features (such as VPN) remain fully available.
  • WDS/Extender operates in a different mode from router mode. It stays in the same subnet as the upstream Wi-Fi, but some router features are limited (e.g., VPN cannot be used).
