What is VPN ? Do i have to purchase monthly ?

I just bought AXT1800 router, I am not sure how to connect with VPN

Mullvad is ok but a lot of sites are blocking mullvad so it does suck.

I had PIA for years, they were really good but recently bought by another company so the price went up.

Just pick one that you think is good.

My question is, why do you think you need a VPN?

You don't need a VPN but if you value you privacy, it's wise to use one, IMO.

Here is:

ELIF:
A VPN is like a secret tunnel that lets you talk privately online. It scrambles your internet traffic so no one can snoop on what you're doing, like checking your email or browsing the web. This keeps your information safe, especially when using public Wi-Fi.

Basically, to be honest, a VPN only makes sense if you are using a public internet connection or if you live in/visit a country that blocks sites/apps that you need. For example, if you are visiting China, you may not be able to use WhatsApp. So all your traffic is redirected to the VPN server before it goes out to the internet.

If you are planning to travel, maybe is better to use you router as a VPN server and send you traffic to you home to avoid censorship.
