Only thing I had available to me that the comet seemed to like is this 12w Apple USB A power adapter. Looks like its output is 5.2v - 2.4A.
Is this okay?
Yes,It's OK to use apple 12W adapter.
Thanks Alex!
I used a GaN but I suppose some may not correctly adjust.
You means don't work?
GaN adapter model I have did work. I have had issues using it with other devices. They are supposed to adjust.
Got it. They may need to add a PD detect circule on the board, to make the devices work.
I haven't studied how these GaN chargers adjust voltage. Guess I will later.
Note that the 5V, 2A it says on the case is overstating the power consumption. I power the Comet and a TP-Link client for WiFi (making the Comet wireless) from a USB 2 port.
Actual current required is not more than around 250 mA for the Comet, i.e. around 1/8 of that 2A…
Comet has very low power consumption under normal circumstances, but in some rare cases, it may require a current exceeding 1A. Although this time is very short, in order to ensure stable operation of the device, we recommend the adapter is 5V/2A
