Just bought a new Beryl for my wife for travelling. Should I better install the open-source driver version or the closed source one?

Will the Native OpenWrt 24 Firmware still get updates?

Yes definately. The op24 firmware should work OK.

There is already a 4.7.0 snapshot. Will there be a 4.7.0 OpenWrt 24 Firmware?

The version 4.7.0 is a branch of the closed source from GL, temporary will not be followed with OP24.

Are the connectivty issues with the closed source version fixed?

There are some networks cannot get IP address in the closed source version. Not resolved.
In this case you may use static IP.
