Wi-Fi 6 Travel Router (GL-AXT1800) is Coming Soon!

We have to find someone that really has their tec together. Anything can be done once you understand what the concept is, & how to create something similar that does the same thing. Think about it, EasyTether did it, so why cant someone else come up with something similar with a different name or find out exactly how they were making these drivers & make one. There has to be some type of tool to understand what the driver installed on the router needs in order to connect to the android application on your phone. Then you’ll see the app on the phone say, connection established…

When easytether was created for the first time, mobile data is still expensive and carriers has limitations. Now data is cheap and carrier do not put limitations.

There is still some market but maybe its market size shrinked a lot. So the income does not cover the cost and the software team is dismissed.

To clone such a project, is not cheap. It is much easier that the easytether team could recompile the source for new target.

Agree with you 100%.

True, your right about that. Also theres another router out besides the GL-AXT1800. Now theres the GL-A1300 (Slate Plus) Here’s another nice router that’s out that would be great to install Easy Tether if there was a driver for it.

Would you happen to know what easy tether driver would go on the GL-A1300 (Slate Plus)?

You can take a look at the following:

I do not work for and I am not directly associated with GL.iNet

Just figured out the Easytether Driver for the New GL-A1300 Slate. Works Flawlessly. Go to EasyTether site, where you get all the drivers from, OpenWrt 19.07.3+ then tap openssl, download that, & extract zip file into folders, look for ipq40xx tap generic then you’ll see easytether-usb-openssl_0.8.9-5_arm_cortex-a7_neon-vfpv4.ipk Done Deal Bro…

I think the answer to having EasyTether actually working on the GL-AXT1800 would be if GL-iNet makes a custom firmware with an functionable working EasyTether driver that was made already from EasyTether that works on this router. You would also have to pay for that custom firmware because its not something that you would normally get. What that price would be, would be up to GL-iNet. I would’nt have a problem paying for it at all…:sunglasses:

On May 31st 2016 you wrote an article about how to build your own firmware for the GL-inet routers. Isn’t it possible to build a custom firmware for the GL-AXT1800 that will make it compatible with an EasyTether driver?

I am afraid it is a no.

The reason is, wether Easyther work or not on your firmware depends on the arch OpenWrt use.

When you compile your own firmware, you cannot change the arch because it is hardware related.

Are you using the stock 4.0 firmware? Or a beta or snapshot?

Im using the stock firmware.

Can you post some Logs of the connection actually working? I’d like to compare to what I am seeing on my A1300 Slate Plus

When you say logs, exactly what do you mean? You have to know how to install the correct driver thats actually working, then you have to know the proper command prompts that’s needed in order for the driver to detect your Android phone as a modem. Are you talking about the GL-A1300(Slate)? This unit does work with an EasyTether Driver. The GL-AXT1800 doesnt have an EasyTether driver that works. Sadly but true.

When you say logs, exactly what do you mean?<< This is a simple request, I want to compare what you see in your gl.inet System logs when you plug in an EasyTether enabled phone, to what I am seeing. Simply do the following: start your gl.inet Slate Plus router, enable EasyTether on your phone and then plug it into the USB cable attached to your Slate Plus. Log into the Slate Plus admin GUI and go to the Advanced link along the left side, then find the ‘Logs’ link. Click that and select ‘System log’. Do a ‘Refresh’ and copy/paste what you see in near the bottom of that log (a few pages is all that is necessary, you should be able to see the easytether references in that log near the bottom of the log file) , paste this back into a reply here.

You have to know how to install the correct driver thats actually working<<
I have installed and run easytether on my: Slate, Spitz, Beryl routers, so I am very familiar with how to install and get easytether running. I follow the very complete directions here: https://docs.gl-inet.com/en/2/app/tether/

Are you talking about the GL-A1300(Slate)?<<
Did you read my post above? I said: >>Can you post some Logs of the connection actually working? I’d like to compare to what I am seeing on my A1300 Slate Plus<< So yes, I’m talking about the A1300 Slate Plus.

Ok, copy, I have the router in my truck under the center console. When I get the chance I’ll bring it into the house, & do that.

Here you go. Im not having any problem with the set up. But when I do a speed test between the GL-MT1300, & the GL-A1300 using the ethernet connection instead of Wireless, the GL-MT1300 is faster, but wirelessly the GL-A1300 is faster. Lets try to figure out how to get an EasyTether Driver to work on the GL-AXT1800. If theres a will, theres a way. One of the members of the mobile streams team has to be around somewhere…:sunglasses:

Thanks for the log info

No problem. We need to all try to figure out how to create a driver for the GL-AXT1800. Im reaching out to people that are tec swavy. Explaining what happened to EasyTether, & the mobile streams team. Gonna stay on top of it no matter what.
