Marble home router arrived and im trying to set it up but the Wi-Fi can’t find the SSID? how do I connect??
Just to get this right:
- You just got the Marble
- You powered it up
- You can't connect now, because there is no SSID you can see?
Yeah,
First the eth could not be found, I added an eth cable to the wlan followed instructions and diagrams but didnt work
Changed the eth cable to lan port instead of wlan, didnt work
Changed the wlan to eth in firmware and rebooted, didnt work
Changed back everything to default by resetting, nothing worked
And even worse, the wifi could not find the network?
It managed to discover the SSID in setup mode but when it came to scan for wifi, the ssid was not there?
I looked at the wireless section and the SSID visability was already on shown. However, I changed this to hidden then hit apply, then reverted back to shown and hit apply, thinking there may be a bug or something.. still didnt find the ssid
The channel is London (UK) so and the channels go up to 11, so all good here.
Then being clever, i went into Luci mode and checked the wireless in network settings and then went into edit then advanced settings of the router to find once again the country im in. hit save then save&apply
back in admin panel gui hit reboot and still no discovery of wifi...
Oh and the eth still not connected...?
I don‘t really understand what you mean by „scanning“.
Which devices scans for Wi-Fi?
How do you want to connect the Marble to WAN?
In the gui there is your eth and wifi section
To enable wifi it needs to scan for the network for the ssid correct?
This scanning part is the connection blue button you press to gain access to the wifi. Once in the wifi it looks for the ssid but cant find the model number of the router to connect to
No, it dont need to scan for Wi-Fi.
You just need to adjust the settings in the Wireless section. See Wireless - GL.iNet Router Docs 4
Or do you talk about Repeating?
I just want to connect laptop's and other IOT's to wireless connection but each device cant seem to find the SSID on the network?
Tried using my cell phone but didnt find the model of the router in wifi
Its odd, because the eth cable to from modem to the marble router has connectivity, shows 5g and 2.4 lit up but cant get any access?? so odd
Please share a screenshot of your wireless settings.
it says repeater is disabled, this is good cos its not a repeater i need to connect to right?
I tried connecting laptop to this network but didnt connect...and the ethernet cable never connects?
second part of ethernet screenshot and below is the repeater but i dont need a repeater, just need to connect to wifi that i cant do because the SSID does not appear
Please press the 3 lines on the right upper side to open all settings.
It is way more easy to set up the device using a tablet or maybe a PC.
About the Ethernet: To what kind of device do you connect?
For the WAN port not getting IP, it maybe becuase that your ISP modem does not accept a new router immediatelly.
So you can do the following:
- Clone the old router's MAC address to the Marble router. This should work immediatelly. But not the best solution because later you may change router or reset router and forget what you have done before.
- Reboot the modem. If not working immediatelly, you may need to wait longer so that the modem accept new MAC addresses. Or call your ISP to reset the modem.
- It also could be that you didn't use the correct settings. Find out the settings from your old router and set up exact the same.
Tried cloning, didnt work
Rebooted but not yet called up my ISP
I have all the correct settings from my old router and had most of them already assigned in the marble and added a few more but still no good.
Well, somethings still seems to be wrong.
You will need to share all details with us to get along.
What cable did you use?
It is not some VDSL connection, I hope?
Hi @admon
It's the cable that came with the Marble and my original openreach modem cable works the same as the one that came with the router
