Wifi not visible on x300, although enabled

I have been running this device now for a long time, but suddenly the wifi is no longer visible. In the interface it is enabled.

I have tried to change different wifi settings, hiding, unhiding, WPA, changing TX Power etc. but nothing helps.

It seems similar to this issue, although it looks like it has not been solved: GL-AX1800 Wifi not visible

I have updated to 4.519 firmware, but the issue happened before also. Updating the FW was part of trying to fix it.

Could you please try to reset the firmware as well?

By resetting firmware, you mean totally resetting the device (Factory reset)?

As the device is located in my summerhouse, I am afraid that I would not be able to reach it again, unless it is sure that it will register via the Goodcloud so that I can reach it there?

Resetting means complete reset, so all settings will be lost - including GoodCloud. So this isn't a remote task, I am sorry.

That is what I thought. But is this kind of "failure" connom and known?

I don't know, would not say it's common.

But resetting solves many issues pretty fast.

Ok, i will have to try that next weekend when I am back at the summerhouse.

So, finally able to go the summerhouse and reset the device, unfortunately it did not help.

I fully reset it and set it up again from scratch (no saved config), but still the Wifi is not showing. Not sure what to read from the logs:

@admon any idea on how to continue?

Not really, maybe @bruce can have a look.

Seems the Wi-Fi interface is already up, any Wi-Fi signal can scan?

  1. Please try fixing the 2.4G channel, like CH1 or 6, and check one more.
  2. Please try brand-new flash the firmware in the uboot mode.
  3. Please share the whole syslog (logread.tar) with me.
  4. If the above ways cannot check the issue, probably it is the hardware issue, thus probably the item will be replaced according to the warranty policy.

BTW, is this model X300B or XE300? Note: this issue is not the same as your quote AXT1800.

No Wi-Fi signal available, but it does say that Wi-Fi is up:

  1. Please try fixing the 2.4G channel, like CH1 or 6, and check one more.
    - Tried this, did not help. Also tried lowering TX power and Wi-Fi security.
  2. Please try brand-new flash the firmware in the uboot mode.
    - I can probably only do this later when I have direct access to the device.
  3. Please share the whole syslog (logread.tar) with me.
    - Sure, It should be attached to this conversation.

The device is model x300B:

Can you check what is the modem band? Sometimes the 4G band interfere with 2.4G wifi but should not be that bad.

Also when this happens, can you ssh to the router and use the following command to check the wifi status

iwinfo
ifconfig

You can also check with other devices to see if they can find the wifi.

At last, you can try a reset of the firmware and check again.

wlan0 down and up

I think this is because of me turning it off and on manually, unless you can tell otherwise from the log?

Can you check what is the modem band?

Yes, this is the band information:

I then proceeded to try to connect to the Wifi, but was unable to find it. I then ran Iwinfo and got this:

Ifconfig produced this:

Any thoughts on this?

Just checking in. Any thoughts on the information I sent. Do I need to have it replaced under Warranty @alzhao ?

Sorry for late reply. I am on trip.

The RX power is only 7 dbm so seems it is a problem. Not sure why. You can move close to the router to see if it gets better.

You can talk to support get a warranty.

No worries. Thanks for checking in. Based on this conversation we are having, I am starting to think that the device is indeed faulty. There has been no change to it on my end sinced it was working well. It jus suddenly stopped reporting/showing the Wifi network. It is still connected via LAN and mobile, only the Wifi is not working.

The device I am using for testing the connection to it is very close, within 1.5 meters.

I think I will contact support and reference this thread.
