Wireguard Connection is failing

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to seek your assistance regarding an ongoing issue I have been experiencing with my GL X3000 router for over a year. Despite multiple attempts to connect through WireGuard VPN, I have been unsuccessful, although I can connect without any issues via OpenVPN.

Upon conducting extensive research online, I have come across several articles and discussions suggesting that my problem may be related to time synchronisation. Currently, I am located in Amman, Jordan, where the correct time zone should be GMT +3. However, my router is displaying the time as GMT +2, which I believe is contributing to the connectivity issues with WireGuard.

Could you kindly provide guidance on how to update the NTP servers on my router to ensure that the time is correctly synchronised? Your expertise in this matter would be greatly appreciated, as I am eager to resolve this issue and utilise WireGuard effectively.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.

Best regards,
L

It has nothing to do with the time zone, as long as the NTP time is successful will be OK.

NTP refer to this way:

WireGuard debug, refer to this thread:

Thank you bruce for your prompt response.

Please see the attached screen shots as I have tried wireguard with different ports but none had a successful connection. I have also reset the router and left the ntp as is and didn’t sync yet I can connect OpenVPN but I can’t make a connection on wireguard.

Please I would really appreciate it if you could help me with this issue. I desperately need the wireguard connection.

WireGuard might be just blocked in your country :frowning:

Does that jordan one work?

Hence the reason it is the only one without domains.

I did noticed in a bit older versions this had issues, which makes sense because you cannot resolve domains in a tunnel which cannot be up because the domain cannot be resolved.

This was also a little misconception i had when vanilla openwrt 'leaked' dns over wan, its by design to resolve domain endpoints over wan, and then the origin change to vpn location.

But i do know this was a issue with gl firmware, last time i did not encountered it, but please check with direct vpn ip as endpoint.

On the PC and cellphone, use the WireGuard APP to connect to Windscribe VPN with its profile, does it available to connect?

Check is Azire VPN available in WireGuard VPN settings, 1 month free with registration is available.

Yes on my mobile I can connect through Wireguard with Windscribe and Proton no issues what so ever, but having the Wireguard profile on the router I have no chance to connect. It’s so weird

I will give a try and let you know , thanks for the suggestion

I have Jordan domain on protonVPN on my mobile and it connects fine but unfortunately not on the router :frowning:

But how comes I can connect to Wireguard on my mobile

WireGuard Apps on phones and mobile can use advanced techniques to avoid censorship. The router can't.

My knowledge that wireguard uses UDP protocol how comes I can connect OPENVPN through UDP, please see attached.

Maybe just WireGuard is blocked - could happen. Without further tests on your side (and different providers/servers) we won't know.
