Wireguard (NordVPN) enormous packet loss

Hi all,

Runninig speedtest.net Android app to test connection shows enormous packet loss for WG tunnel on Beryl AX.

If I disable tunnel on Beryl AX, and use NordVPN Android app to establish tunnel using the same server - there is 0 packet loss.

Steps:

  1. run speedtest .net app meassure with no vpn
  2. In NordVPN app on device establish connection(note server number in the upper left corner), run speedtest .net app
  3. repeat speedtest .net app meassure
  • disconnect NordVPN app tunnel.
  1. In Beryl, use same server number for WG config, make tunnel for just that 1 device, run speedtest .net app
  2. repeat speedtest .net app meassure

Please check servers and ips on screenshots. Also look at the packet loss.

Setup:

Device: Beryl AX
Firmware: 4.8.1
Settings:

  • no repeater
  • no AddGuard
  • lan cable directly to ISP's ONT device for FTTH.
  • 1 WireGuard NordVPN tunnel for 1 device, all targets - Android 13 Tablet
  • Wifi 5ghz, Android 13 Tablet connected

Hi,

Please try the following and see whether it helps:

  1. Go to Admin Panel → VPN → VPN Dashboard and change the MTU to 1280.

  2. Go to Network → Network Acceleration and try enabling/disabling it to see whether there is any difference.

  3. If you connect using a wired device, does the same issue still occur?
