Wireguard VPN chain via Flint 2 + Flint

Hi all! I just picked up a Flint 2 recently and it’s my first GL.iNet product. Really been enjoying it.

I’m trying to set up a Wireguard VPN chain between two routers - the Flint 2 and Flint (original). I have a Wireguard VPN set up on the Flint 2 (my main router) that I tunnel the Flint 1 through using VPN policy based on client device. This works fine and the speeds are excellent.

However when I activate another Wireguard VPN (different provider) on the Flint 1 (forcing all connections through VPN) the VPN will show that it is connected, yet pages will struggle to load if at all. Sometimes pages will partially load and the connection is completely unusable. This occurs on two different Wireguard providers, so it’s not just an issue with one.

This is not an issue if the Flint 2 uses OpenVPN and the Flint 1 uses Wireguard.

I’m quite new to this so i’m wondering if there’s a mistake i’m making or if there is something I can do to help alleviate the issue. Everything is connected via ethernet and both routers are on the latest versions as of the upgrade page on router admin - 4.5.4 for Flint 2, 4.4.6 for Flint 1.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Have you tried Firmare 4.5 for flint1? Have you enabled “VPN Cascading” on VPN dashboard for wireguard server?

You can also try editing the wireguad.conf file to change DNS “64.6.64.6” to an alternative one, say, “1.1.1.1”.
