XE3000 locks me out of web interface when vpn fails

Hi all, I just got this brand new and I'm about to go on an international trip. I got the router for digital nomad purposes, so I wanted sim + vpn killswitch support.

I have the latest firmware 4,0 (0704release5).

With the default configuration, I just set up the sim, and then nordvpn.

Once enabling vpn, I get locked out of the admin panel (http://192.168.8.1) if I remove the sim or lose signal. This is pretty ridiculous for default configuration imo, as it means if you lose internet the only way to gain access is a factory reset (which I already had to do once).

ssh seems to still work, but even though I tried disabling the vpn config, the firewall rules were still there and preventing access.

How can I set it up so that the admin panel (or really any LAN access) is still allowed and the killswitch is only for WAN?

Ok, after some more testing, this only occurs on my laptop.

From my phone I can access the admin panel and disable vpn, and then magically I can access the admin panel from my laptop again. I tested different browsers on my laptop and it's the same.

Very weird, but at least with my phone as a backup option I don't have to worry about being locked out again.

Hi,

The phone and laptop are both connected in the LAN of router.

If the phone can access the GL GUI when the cellular SIM is abnormal, and the laptop should also be able to access it.

Does your laptop have other VPNs enabled?

I did not reproduce this issue on my laptop, and when the SIM card is unplugged, the GL GUI access is normal on laptop, MS Edge browser.

It’s a corporate laptop with vpn, but the laptop vpn wasn’t enabled at the time.

What’s weird is the spinning bar of the admin panel sometimes loads, but it gives a timeout error message.
