Before I log in to Amazon to order one, can anyone tell me if the Lite version is firmware compatible with the LEDE 17.01.04 NOR release for the AR-300M?
I can’t see anywhere if the chipset has changed, or is it just the NAND and one ethernet port removed?
Yes it should work.
But one problem of the the firmware from LEDE. It doesn’t have wifi enabled. How will you connect to the router if you use this firmware? The Ethernet port is WAN, not LAN.
I have my own custom image so just being a wan port is not an issue as it comes up with wifi enabled.
I am more concerned about bootloader incompatibility. …
Not a problem?
I am having this problem exactly. After flashing the LEDE 17.01.04 version, I cannot connect to my ar300m lite router since there is no lan port and the wifi is off by default in Lede. Is there anything that I can do now or the router is bricked?
The problem is I already flashed my ar300m lite router with stock Lede, so now I cannot connect to my router. So I also cannot flash it anymore. Any ideas?
Just use uboot web failsafe if you have a problem of the firmware.
The Uboot GUI interface is very convenient. Make sure you select the NOR flash option as the NAND chip is not installed in the Lite version.
To get into the Uboot GUI:
- Set your computer’s ethernet to 192.168.1.2 static address, subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
Connect the Lite WAN port to the ethernet port on your computer.
Unplug the usb power lead from the Lite.
Press and hold the reset button. Keeping it held, plug the USB power lead back in keeping the reset button pressed and count slowly to 20 (just to make sure) before letting go.
On your computer browser, go to 192.168.1.1 and you should be given the Uboot GUI.
Remember to select the NOR flash option. It will upload whatever you give it so make sure you use the correct firmware.
For convenience if you are not ready to build your own firmware, there is a standard LEDE image with wifi enabled and luci installed on our web site here:
This is NOT a GL-iNet release but one I have made and is straight from the standard LEDE ImageBuilder, with wifi enabled and nothing else but luci installed.
These links are all valid. Please check if you Internet connection is fine.
yes. Internet is working my laptop is connected to the router (the one im working one) and can open the link but when updating the software packages I got that error.
You have probably fallen for the “LEDE uses 192.168.1.x subnet” gotcha
Most likely your ISP router is using this also so will be clashing, although you will get Internet connection from your laptop.
Change your Lite’s ip address to 192.168.8.1 (like on the GL-iNet firmware).
Hopefully all will be revealed
Thanks! will try it tonight
