An workaround for newer firmwares:
Hopefully this bug will be resolved in future firmwares. I do not want to use old firmware for good due to security reasons.
Seems like the old firmware is very unstable.
At least one client has problems to create connection. It may take minutes on "Connecting", sometimes fails and sometimes succeeds. Occasionally need to forget the network and redo it.
Sometimes the whole network is broken. Need to restart the device.
Hopefully new firmware will come soon to tackle the original problem.
Seems like version 23.05 could also fix some Wifi speed issues?
Maybe need to try OpenWRT 23.05... cannot live with client connection issues. Seems to affect at least Windows and Intel AX chipsets.
Tested OpenWRT 23.05 and does not solve the original slow download issue. Seems like this device is cursed.
- Cannot use GL.iNet 3.216 firmware due to stability and connection issues
- Cannot use GL.iNet 4.x.xx due to wifi download issue
- Cannot use OpenWRT 23.05.4 due to wifi download issue
Hopefully someone will try to fix these issues in future...
Edit. Removed "Solution" mark, because even though old firmware fixed the wifi download issue, it was so unstable.
Attached the test firmware, it merges the above 2 patch, we have not idea about if it improves the issue, since we did not reproduce this situation in our lab. Just try for you.
Unfortunately those patches does not seem to help. Cannot reach to v3 firmware speeds
