Make someone sit in the corner for a few @bruce this one was a bit of an oops ty for the quick response especially on an open version that’s not your newest product!
Yes, I have to admit the quality of this op24 firmware is not satisfactory. Will notice R&D guys to check it carefully.
I really wish GL iNet actually fully tested their “stable” firmware releases. After years of using their routers, it’s clear that they don’t. If you browse this forum, you’ll find many cases where a “stable” build was pulled from the download site because it was broken.
In my experience, for any of their firmware, assume it may not work and plan to spend a few hours testing it yourself before putting it into production.
Here’s just one of many examples from past posts: On the n300, a router with only one Ethernet port and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, the 3.211 “stable” firmware was released with the Ethernet port completely non-functional.
We expect critical bugs in Snapshots.
However, we don't expect a feature to be completely broken in a beta release.
This suggests it wasn't even tested before being released.
That firmware is based on OpenWrt 24.10.2, that works perfectly. I'm using it by months.
The wiregard is also working perfectly on OpenWrt.
Guys i created this to post the issues not to finger pointing. Beside other companies who send 1-2 firmware updates after you buy.
I had a Xiaomi ax3600 before and they update 1 time in 3 years...
GL team did a great job with the updates and also with the new futures they bring as dual VPN and many more. Did anyone thanks for that? Why now we throw stones to them.
Shit happens everywhere! Just post the issues !
Beta is still part of the testing cycle, right?
Yes latest and uncommon bugs
Looks like there's a new version, dated 2025-07-29.
I'm not home right now.
Has anyone tried it out yet?
Edit:
Got home - updated my Flint 2 from 4.7.5-op24 to latest 4.8.0-op24
Sucessful update with settings saved.
Internet working - without VPN
Used existing Wireguard client script - internet working with WG VPN.
Added some software - Samba4, irqbalance, SQM, PBR, HDD Idle, Wireguard via Luci.
All good so far - but it's only been 5 minutes!

Wireguard VPN is working and was able to use two simultaneous connections on two wifis.
Besides that didn't find any issue with speed LAN or wifi. So it should work for the majority of the users. Another thing to test for my use case is 802.1x which will update by tomorrow.
Thanks for turning this around so quickly.
Luci not working? I had to uninstall and reinstall again. Can someone else confirm?
After upgrading to 4.8.0-op24(0729) from 4.7.5-op24(0519), everything is working great except the "opkg update" will fail to fetch from GL-inet ? anyone has the same issue ?
Edit: after changing IPv6 mode from NAT to Native solves the issue.
With keep settings upgrade and without settings upgrade from v4.7.5, both of them are no issue.
Please check it again.
Clean Flash latest opo-24 4.8. So far VPN Policy routing works via domain, device, etc all good. Multi-wan working well, switches over no issue with split tunnels as well!! Anyone who has EVER tried to get MWAN and PBR knows what an AMAZING feature this is to have so easy to do in their GUI. Wi-Fi performance is great. I honestly feel you guys @bruce could make this the Main firmware line for the F2 once beta is done.
This feedback is still relevant for other users. The industry standard for beta testing is to ensure that core functionality is bug-free before releasing it to end users. Users have certain expectations, and features that can be automated and have been in previous releases are not one of those. Things do slip up, but this is a major issue as indicated for people and can erode trust. The Product Manager should be reviewing this feedback since they ultimately are responsible for the quality of the release and release timeliness.
how is the wifi performance compared to the 4.8 firmware releases. I'm currently on 4.8.0 Beta 2025-07-21, so wondering whether it's worth the trouble to try the openwrt-24 variant. My personal priority is wifi performance, as my router is located at one end of the house due to site constraints. Thanks.
Was in closed 4.8 beta 6, I see so far at least the same performance but I haven’t done any iperf test. It was more a weak signal than throughput that I had issues with in 2.4 but that seems to be resolved and throughput for 2.4 is sufficient. Seems stable and quick so far. I mean a closed GUI that is working on 24.10.2 is AMAZING in itself. Name one company that has ANYTHING this new (24.10.2) running their user GUI working. Let alone multi-wan and PBR working on it!
It works perfectly fine for me, with custom ddns provider.
Did you try reconfiguring the service?
