Chromecast TV, Nest Mini, Problems with trying to connect

Hello, I have a chromecast TV and a Nest MIni and both devices became extremely difficult to connect to the MT1300 Beryl after the latest firmware, I never have any problem with this two devices, I been using little router for my apartment for over 2 years. The chromecast didn’t wanted to connect to the router…something with the guess network was on aka I need to disable AP isolation!! when actually the guess network is OFF…the second device is the Nest Mini that it keeps disconnecting from the router for the past 3 days since the update, I even did a hard reset and still having the same issue…any help appreciated

Can you provide the log?

Please extract the log after the connection fails.

logread.zip (16.3 KB)
This is the best I can do for now, But today I haven’t have anything disconnected.

Can you provide the config of wireless?

Executing the following command by ssh:

cat /etc/config/wireless

I found a mistake information in the log:

I found that the repeater was inconsistent with the bandwidth of its own 5G wifi, resulting in error logs.

This is a bug, we will fix it in the future;

Can you adjust the bandwidth of 5G wifi via the web?
After setting it to consistent, see if there are any exceptions?

Hi the Bottoms are grey out can you guide me through how to change it. By the way I am in repeater mode…piggy ridding my roommate, Because I like to have all my devices in one single router…with connecting nothing to his actual router with out conflicting with his devices.

Disconnect the repeater, modify the Bandwidth, and then reconnect the repeater.

Hi, I try to do it but when I did the entire connection drop out and I was off line for almost 30 min… until I was able to log into the router and switch everything like it was before…I just going to leave the way it is…, and wait for you guys to drop the update with the fix!! thank very much for your help…probably next year I will switch this to GL-MT3000 / Beryl AX looks like a fantastic product!!

I’m having the same issue… chrome cast won’t connect to my beryl…not on 2.4ghz nor on 5ghz. I checked what was said earlier and the ssid that is used to repeat is the same bandwidth that I’m sending out. Any idea what could be the issue? I’m on software version 4.3.7.

The Guess network in the router is off right?

I've got this same issue on FW 4.3.17 of my MT1600. Will this be resolved? I was able to cast until the second I went from 3.x to 4.3.17. I use 2.4Ghz only. Is there a way to revert FW back?

Dave

You mean GL-MT1300, right?

As this post is old I want to ask some questions.

Do you mean that the chromecast cannot connect or it iconnect but cannot cast?

Are you able to export the log and send to me?

Yes you can revert the firmware back by uploading the old firmware. Do not keep settings please.

I do not see the chromecast devices listed as being able to be cast to. None show up. Oddly I did disable my guest SSID and I was able to see them. I then re-enabled guest wifi and I still can see them. I can certainly send logs a bit later.

Sorry for the typo, I did mean MT-1300

So little update. I had to reboot the router today as it's in an RV and we're moving. Couldn't find any chromecast devices again. I disabled guest wifi again and I could see chromecast devices again. I did some more testing and I found that it was the action of turning off the guest wifi, NOT the fact that it was turned off that fixed it. When it wasn't working again (after another power cycle) I went ahead and turned guest wifi back on and then w/in seconds I was able to see the chromecast devices again.

What log would you like and is there any activity you would like me to perform so you can view it in the log? I get no failed connection as I don't even see the device to connect to so I don't know anything of use would be logged?

Dave

When this problem happened, after you fix, get me the system log. It should contains info about this.

But why do you enable guest wifi? Should the chromecast connect to the guest wifi?

The guest wifi clients are isolated just to let you know.

I think I understand how this is confusing. My issue is that I can connect the chromecast devices to the router just fine. It's when I try to cast to them they are not discoverable unless I toggle guest wifi on or off.

I just noticed someone above had asked someone else if guest wifi was off so as a test I turned mine off. I do not use the guest wifi and I do understand the clients on that would be isolated from each other by design. find that when I toggle the guest wifi (either on or off) i will instantly see the chromecast devices as being able to be cast to. That may be completely unrelated but I'm not sure yet. When I first boot the router I am not able to discover any chromecast devices to even attempt to cast to. I will generate logs in the AM.

I believe this is still an issue, right? I was struggling for 3 days, and almost returned a brand new Chromecast, shouting at it, when I found this thread, moved the bandwidth to 20 and it came back working like before. The problem is that I bought it one week ago, configured using also new MT3000 and it was all working fine until 3 days ago where it started to have very slow network and then disconnected completely and never connected back to the router. Is there a fix planned for it?

I think so! But I do believe the company is trying to fix the problem! Because looks like more people are having same problems

Please post the syslog here, the process of the Chromecast disconnects the router, probably to let us clearer to know this issue.

Please try to be fixed channel 36 (5GHz) or 6 (2.4GHz), since probably the router changes to DFS (5GHz) channel, to cause the Chromecast cannot connect.
