I'm sorry if this is redundant but I just searched a bit and was not sure if GL.iNet GL-X3000 (Spitz AX) is working fine with visible phone service.
My finger is on the trigger over at Amazon but would like to be sure.
Thanks.
If what you're asking is whether the X3000 supports visible sim
That's supportive
I've been using my GL-X3000 with a Visible sim for over a year now. No issues.
I have been using mine with a Verizon tablet line since April with no issues.
Thank you all for confirming.
Is there a step by step guide I should follow or should I search out each step?
I know I want to update firmware for modem and router, "repair", ttl, maybe mac address?
Then start looking at band locking I imagine? Thanks for any feedback, my router shows up a week from now.
I'm pairing with the waveform quadmini but may go bigger if I don't get the results I hope for.
Currently running a nighthawk MR1100 (4g only) with a random panel antenna with 2 coax that claims 11db of gain. It does bring the signal into my van and it's often good enough at my fringe location but sometimes it's unusable for periods, probably de-prioritized service from visible but IDK.

I don't use band locking. I'm sure it may give improvements in certain situations but for me I want all the bands I can get my carrier aggregation hands on.
The new Visible plans (for the last year or so) do NOT use VSBINTERNET. They use VZWINTERNET. In fact, I think Visible has transitioned all of their customers over to the new plans that use VZWINTERNET.
Thanks, what about ttl? 65? 88?
Im using mine one a Verizon 5G business internet plan, works great with just 2 things to note:
1: will show up as "NON VZW DEVICE" in the online portal. Verizon is really picky about devices on their network. This might cause some issues with activating and will certainly increase the odds of support blaming you/your device if you have issues. Personally ive had no issues with my setup for 6 months or so.
2: The default VZWINTERNET apn does not work with this plan and possibly other 5G data plans. the correct one for me is "V5GA01INTERNET"
Overall this is a fantastic device, Verizon can just be a bit whiny sometimes.
My thoughts on 65 vs 88 are discussed in post 36 in this thread.
I'd like to thank everyone again for their input.
TLDR: with all my upgraded equipment I'm seeing the same slow speeds and much worse ping than I was getting with my MR1100 and a 2x2 panel antenna.
I have things up and running kinda.
I checked the firmware and it seems that I am up to date out of the box.
I'm a little hesitant to mess with the modem so I haven't done anything there yet.
I used the command
AT+QGMR
It tells me I have modem firmware
RM520NGLAAR03A03M4G_01.201.01.201
I've read that in some cases downgrading the firmware can be helpful but I don't know where I'm at currently and don't know that there's anything wrong with the current firmware.
I bought a waveform 4x4 quadmini antenna and was hoping that the extra connections over my 2x2 set up would improve my situation.
I'm in a fringe location and subject to the whims of my provider visible. There have been short periods in the past where I get very usable speeds but most of the time it's quite painfully slow.
I did get another SIM sent to me and it's behaving the same so I don't think I'm being particularly punished. I've been using my other sim in the MR1100 for over a year and if I drive 1 mile down the road I get very usable service.
I can get by until I want to play games which does work at times. My speed tests are often .5 mbps (half a mbps!)
But I've seen 20 mbps on rare occasions.
When conditions seem ok at around 5 mbps I feel confident I can play my games, sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.
Today I was seeing 2 mbps and thought I'd give it a try. It went ok, I wasn't kicked but I could see the lag.
Which leads me to my main inquiry right now. On my MR1100 I would always see 40-100 ping mostly 40.
On the GL.inet x3000 the best I've seen is 90 but it's usually much worse, when I do a speed test. Like 200-1000
I've been looking around and changing settings but I also tried to start again from a reset.
I've tried the Verizon APN settings and the visible ones but with VWZINTERNET replacing VSBLINTERNET
In the same spot I've chosen 88 ttl (do I need to input that a different way?)
I've turned off multiwan and Internet acceleration (I think)
I don't understand ipv6 and I've tried that off and on.
I only ever see band 5 although something blipped up for a second that I didn't catch. When I do a tower search there are a bunch (10 or so) that show up but I don't know which network they are.
I may end up getting the more expensive quad pro antenna but I don't know. I'm in similar shape to before I invested but with way worse ping.
I'm sorry to be rambling but wonder if any of this might prompt some advice. Thank you.
How's your signal
Not good, but at the same location I get better ping with my other less capable device.
Ul/Dl bandwidth 10m
Band 5
RSRP -108 to -110 (poor)
RSSI -80 (excellent)
RSRQ -14 (fair)
SINR 10 (good)
I meant to mention, I'll try the included free SIM at some point. It can connect to different carriers? Maybe that will help me.
Yes, it's compatible with most carriers
If you have any ideas on the ping, I appreciate the help. I'm going to move my antenna. It's a good practice to turn off the router when disconnecting antennas?
Also, am I on the latest firmware for the modem? I'd rather leave that alone for now I think.
I just started playing around with blocking lte bands. For the last day it has displayed B5 so I blocked it and it changed to B13 then B26 then B66.
I checked signal and it changed a bit and I did speed tests. B66 had the worst signal at -120 but the download speed shot up. The upload speed was almost non existent though.
Is my router not aggregating?
I only ever see one band listed.
Does moving the router closer to a window improve the signal?
Aggregation is turned on by default
Maybe your signal is too bad
Do you have a second network?
My antenna is on my van and I try different orientations to make some difference.
I wonder about the aggregation because when I block bands it displays a different band but only ever one. Should I see more than one displayed? Is it possible I turned it off somewhere, is there a setting I should look for?
After trying the 5 or so bands that seem to be available to me, I turned then all back on except B5 and I'm having decent, usable results. Ping is still high at 100, 120 under load according to fast.com
One of the reasons I got this router was to be able to experiment like this. If I can maintain the results I get just by blocking B5 then I'm close to happy. Still would like to get better ping.
I just remembered that my other device would display B5 but it was consistently getting 40 ping on speed tests.
I'll keep trying different combos.
