Drop-in Gateway kills my internet (GL-MT6000)

I've just received my new Flint 2 router and am getting things set up. While looking through the settings I notice that anytime I click on "Drop-in Gateway", it will completely kill the internet connection for the router. I don't have to change anything, just opening up this setting page will do it.

A reboot will bring this back but this is a pretty poor intro to this router. Is this something that's known or going to be addressed?

I just vpn'd into my MT6000 from work via WireGuard connection and checked this out of curiosity... No problems opening that tab for me. Though I have never applied that setting as I do not require it.

Have you ever enabled this option?

EDIT - I recently got my MT6000 as well... The firmware it came with was not current, so the very first thing I did was update to the current v4.7.0 version. Check your FW version and try updating if you are not on v4.7.0.

Yeah also on v4.7.0 as I updated soon after setting up. Mode is disabled as far as I'm aware but I'm not going into that page again anytime soon until the gf has gone out, I don't need to risk my own health doing that again while she's in meetings

It's very odd though, open the page > internet dies.

Yeah - I'd rather risk physical torture than play around with the network while my wife is on a video call for work :upside_down_face:

If you are early in your setup and haven't got too far, perhaps the easiest thing to do would be to simply reset the router to default settings, which would ensure whatever is going on with the Drop-In Gateway setting to reset. Granted, you have to start over from scratch again, but unless you've got a lot of very customized settings and/or vpn configurations it shouldn't take long to set the router up again.

Just a thought.

So I've reset to default and also updated to the latest 4.7.4 and still get the same issue. Might try a couple more things before I end up returning,

Further testing seems like the initial page for this setting will kill my connection. If I enable the setting, save then disable it again I can get the internet back. It will still happen every time I visit this setting though.

Hi. I have the same problem. Tell me, have you assigned a permanent IP to your computer from Address Reservation?

Nope, this was from a fresh setup. Nothing yet configured.

Any ideas anyone? It's kind of a ridiculous issue to have. Granted I can just avoid clicking this page, but still...

This happens on the preinstalled firmware, 4.7 and 4.7.4 and suggestions on where to go next?

What's the usual process here for support and/or community interaction. From the outset I was sort of hoping for a bit more activity by how much people seems to rave about these products in forums etc, is it just people who are happy to go it alone themselves using openwrt
