So the 2023 Feature Requests thread, now at 100 posts, has become a massive collection that makes it hard to know what’s going on with what IMO. I suggest a dedicated category devoted to individual threads for individual features rather than a ‘dumping ground’ for all of 'em.
Thank you very much for your advice.
We’re thinking about listing these things more clearly.
Thank you for considering these & other suggestions.
@lizh Is there any update on this?
Hi Inetter9522:
At present, part of the plan has been made, and there will be a gradual update in August.
Thanks!
Could we please get the following two features added to all routers
- A "shutdown" button next to the reboot button on the admin page (I really hate pulling the power cord whenever I need to power off the device as this could potentially corrupt the OS so I think a graceful shutdown would be more appropriate)
- An option on the plugins page to "select all" then "update all" instead of having to manually click update on each update thats needed (Doing this after a firmware update is tedious)
Grateful shutdown is not needed, the OS does not use any caching so it can't corrupt.
Updating the plugins is not recommend, to be honest. It might soft-brick your router.
I would like to request something although i wonder how much interest there is.
The ability for EVPN (ethernet vpn), this means you can have access through layer 2 over the vpn due to a second tunnel encapisulation.
you can interconnect vlans over the vpn like it is a giant switch over multiple locations
Such protocols are gretap, vxlan, bird2 and a newer one unetd which already uses wireguard and vxlan and some DHT discovery.
Though since these setups are more advanced especially on the mtu side of things it can be usefull to have such setting in the gl firmware.
Currently i don't think there is much animo for this especially since vlans aren't fully supported in the ui, but that will not always be the case in the future, but the real question is how much interest there is for a feature like this.
Also a example is in openwisp, ive seen screenshots that their wireguard wizard also had a option for vxlans that looks pretty nice see:
Although openwisp is for multiple batches of routers so not in my interest, its still a cool wizard
Ok roger that, Thank you for the feedback
Still looking for a GPS Location Feature as it was already described by @glumidor
Yes to this. Where is the category section?
A must.
