[Feature request] Replace Wireguard with AmneziaWG

@bruce I always had internet issues in China when I go there for business, but I went there for 2 weeks and I had ZERO issues.

Both my laptop and my mobile phone were connected to my GL-MT3000 using the “Obfuscation”.

Feature approved!

When will flint 1 get amnezia?

It seems that your MT6000 is running both WG server and client.

According to the screenshot you attached, the MT6000 server is using the obfuscated protocol and the client is using the standard protocol.

Hello,

Like other models, this feature will be supported on v4.9 firmware.

Makes a lot of sense. Turning WG client off and it seems like it is outputing as expected although I have had to change the command line on the MT6000 replacing “wgclient1” by “wgserver” instead:

I suspect that this means all is working well and as expected. Keep up the good work and many thanks again.

Will amnezia work as a client in flint 1?

That’s awesome! Any chance be9300 \ be3600 will be included too? I’d like to test awg on both of them!

Hello everyone,

I spent 2 weeks in China and tested Amnezia, using an MT3000 in Brazil as the server and another one in China as the client. It worked well!

However, I must say that I also tested the normal Wireguard server and it also worked fine, with an MT6000 in Brazil as the server and another MT3000 as the client in China.

Overall, the conventional Wireguard setup with the MT6000 as the server was more stable and had better speed. I traveled across 5 cities in China, from North to South, and the result was the same.

Despite Amnezia being a good feature, I don't think it makes much of a difference in China. Maybe it's different in Russia...

I guess they may not block everywhere in china for tourists, not sure though.

But what im interested to see is when one use it on a long term, more like citizen connection there.

I read by others that eventually they block normal wg connections, but wonder if amnezia does a change, personally i think they can detect it because it is just point to point, that is a pattern they can get a hold on, and the type ports being used too.

If i look to other obfusucation tech, like vless, they manipulate the SNI, and missuse https cert handshakes for other traffic, I think that is far less detectable and very smart :face_savoring_food:

I tested countless Wireguard servers from Surfshark and NordVPN (with some tweaks), and they work well with my cell phone's mobile network, but they don't work with hotel, work, or university Wi-Fi. I imagine they are blocked by the ISP via IP or DNS. However, the server created by the router didn't give me any problems and was the only one that worked. I imagine it will also be blocked eventually.

My previous experience in China with the standard Wireguard is: the connection wasn’t stable, dropping sometimes during the day.

When you are on the Mobile Network, I noticed the IP of my phone is from my original country. It seems there is a VPN created by the Mobile Network. That’s why Surfshark / NordVPN also works in your mobile phone.

Actually I bought a Sim card from China, didn't use mt country Sim card.

Hello all, thank you for adding the feature. Does it still all go through 51820 port with obfuscation enabled?

On Bruce’s screenshot you can see the port number is customized:

Hi!

Testing Amnezia with 2 MT-3000, one as server the other as client, everything is working as it should.

Today also tested as a client, an Amnezia Premium profile.

The Amnezia generated profile worked directly without the need of any editing.

Regards

Out of curiousity, did you do manual update to 4.8.2 and then have to reset?

I was getting no internet at all even though VPN was connected. Performed full reset and then it started working however speeds were still affected with obfuscation enabled.

I can’t answer that.

The MT-3000 had some configuration from other tests.

I upgraded to 4.8.2 and factory reset it.
