Flint 2 (GL-MT6000 ) - bug reports - collective thread

This is a WARNING.
When the mtk eth tx timeout, the driver will soft reset the mtk eth hardware.

I second that, I have a device on my network that sent me a notification to my phone went one of my many devices “disconnect/connect” and I’m being getting notifications like crazy since I started using this router.

Yeah but the ethernet ports were all down, and never came back, the LED on the router was flashing and the internet was disconnected from the router. I had to reboot the router… so the reset didn’t happen.

So I can consistently crash Flint 2, by using SpeedTest app on iOS when on WiFi. I also have a Wireguard connection on the router that is on but I doubt that’s the one causing issues.

I can’t crash it with the speedtest - even if I use WG myself.
What are your config parameters for your Wi-Fi?

Default settings, I have not changed anything.

I also have adguard home running (using Hagezi Ultimate)

It’s a bit of trouble to understand what Wi-Fi settings you use if you don’t provide them. :frowning:

So if somebody is reporting a Wi-Fi issue, he/she should include at least:

Router model:
Router firmware:
Wi-Fi band: 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz?
Wi-Fi bandwidth: 20/40/80/160 MHz?
Wi-Fi Mode: 11ac/ax or 11 a/n/ac or whatever
Wi-Fi channel: ? / Auto
Wi-Fi encryption: WPA2 / WPA3 ?
Power: ?

I reverted back to mt6000-1226 - v4.5.5 release 1
release 3 isn’t very stable.

4.5.4 it’s being more stable for me

Since I’ve stopped using as wireguard server it hasn’t gone crazy again.

migrate to openwrt snapshot which solves “All” problems, only 2.4 which is still bad, the rest everything works here 100%

Which openwrt version would you suggest?

Where did you find it?

All versions, from 4.5.2 to 4.5.5 are unusable for me.
With 4.5.5 I get disconnected every hour or so.
With 4.5.2 - 4.5.4 I get kicked out then wifi password is refused.
4.5.4 disconnect all laptops.

I cannot say I am not heavily disappointed so far.

I really love OpenWRT (my Linksys MR8300 has been running without a single glitch for years…) so this is not what I expected at all.

Just the most basic features alone, routing and wifi, do not work.

I paid the full price for this router and I really wanted to love this Flint 2 so I hate to say this but now I feel I have been scammed.

I didn’t say it was the official version of gl, I said the pure openwrt snapshot, keep using this until gl’s devs resolve the problems of the original firmware, and there’s no point in crying now because of what has already been done, we have to try to resolve it by giving feedback for devs.

I would not say having OpenWRT has solved all problems. 5GHz performance is quite poor for me with Apple devices. I am coming from a WAX206 and my 5GHz ping rates have never been as poor for pinging internally on LAN as with the Flint. I get spikes up to 400-500ms, I’ll get video stream hiccups I never had before.

5GHz radio will die if I change country codes from 00 to CH or US or back, I have to reboot the router a few times to get the AP back.

I would say this device is far from perfect. Its potential is high, so I hope the bugs get ironed out, but my WAX206 running one of the first snapshots that had everything working was 10x more stable and robust than this AP.

I’m not even using the Flint as a router, just an AP to my existing wired network. I would like to use it as a router to replace my Edgerouter X which cannot perfectly shape 1Gbps, but I won’t until they can at least stabilize the firmware. I’d be willing to go back to stock firmware once this forum thread is not full of pain.

As I said, no problem for me, I’m using ddns, wireguard, adguard, samba4, minidlna, upnp, watchcat, everything works normally.

I don’t have wifi bans or problems with 160mhz, slowness or anything.

I updated it this morning to the latest snapshot version

if I install openwrt as you say hoping that the Luci interface is integrated into the snapshot then can you help me configure the Flint2 from scratch since I have never used pure openwrt?
