Flint 2 (GL-MT6000 ) - bug reports - collective thread

WiFi is still unstable in both the 2.4GHz band and the 5GHz band after updating to 4.5.4. Restarting the router doesn’t work to temporarily fix it anymore. When clients can connect, the speeds are atrocious and there’s very high ping and packet loss, making the connection unusable.

Here’s what I’ve tried, none of which work to fix it:

  • changing from 160MHz to 80MHz bandwidth
  • changing WiFi channels
  • changing WPA types
  • reverting the router to factory settings

I’ve since turned off the WiFi on the router and dropped my extra MT3000 next to it in AP mode, which is not ideal but the only working solution I’ve found.

Do you have 802.11b rates disabled and have you checked if a specific client could be causing the issue? You’d need to connect 1 client at a time and then perform speed tests until you see the problem.

I guess you could also try using an OpenWrt snapshot, since that contains newer packages and more fixes.

I found this teardown and this WiFi speed comparison last night. But they only tested 5 different chips from PCs and they didn’t include phones.

I agree, my 5GHz WiFi (80Mhz) was frozen when I came back home after more than a 12hrs router uptime. My smartphone only reported “no internet access”. The same for other devices. The 2,4 GHz WiFi worked fine.

The 2.4GHz band seems to keep devices connected but still has dismal speeds and is barely usable even for low bandwidth devices like smart switches.

To answer the device-related question, this is happening with only one device on the network, so no other device is to blame.

I think this is the Chinese version model. We are using EU version model. Could be different everything

The hardware is identical and the firmware looks to be identical, if they download it from here. So the only difference would be a partition that holds some region info.

This night router crashes without any apparent cause.
It’s under UPS so it cannot be something related to the ac power.
This is what grafana says:

Approximately from 23:50 to 08:00

It wasn’t reachable through ssh / web gui / luci.
Only way to restore is to unplug the power cable and plug it again.

I would love to understand what cause this but the logs after rebooted the router has been deleted.

firmware 4.5.4

Before, when it was in the previous beta 4.5.4, the bad connection or incorrect wifi bug was no longer happening after a period of inactivity like at night when we are sleeping and when we wake up we can no longer connect to the wifi, in version 4.5.3 it always showed this error… then I alerted them on the forum and they corrected it in the first beta 4.5.4 and now when they launch the stable version this morning I wake up and come across this damn error again… seriously?

DETAIL: this bug only appears if something is connected via an ethernet cable, without anything connected it doesn’t happen…

Try to log locally, for example by creating a folder /logs and set it as the destination

What kind of device is connected and what does this device do?

Tv, ps5, iptv box this devices

I also have a problem with 4.5.4. When I install docker in a clean installation, the internet suddenly stops working. I need to install it in 4.5.3 and then update to 4.5.4, or use a backup from 4.5.3 to 4.5.4 to working. Something is wrong with 4.5.4 configuration file.

Firmware 4.5.3 → Install dockerd → everything is fine
Firmware 4.5.4 → Install dockerd → no more internet connection to LAN

4.5.3 did you updraded adguard home?

I’m not using adguard for now

Same here.
I have only docker and shadowsocks extra.
Just updated to 4.5.4 like 1hr ago.
No internet even after rebooted twice.
Can ping google via SSH on MT6000.
Only 2 laptops connected via LAN and 1 mobile via WiFi.
None can access internet through MT6000 now.
Will try to downgrade now.

Edit:15mins later: downgraded to 4.5.3 and got everything working now. won’t upgrade to 4.5.4 again soon.

I’m using the latest 4.5.3 beta and so far, the best firmware for me. Using for 24 hours, no crash:

Confuse beta and release, what different? Release was showing main page router and upgraded firmware then sorted out adguard home. Working fine.

I don’t know the difference between this 4.5.3 beta and the 4.5.3 release but for some reason this seems more stable to me

I wonder if the original BETA version of 4.5.4 also has this issue. You can’t download it anymore though, since they replaced the file.
