Flint 2 (GL-MT6000 ) - bug reports - collective thread

You can set the VPN to domain based on the VPN panel, it will say global proxy by default, add the following domains to avoid YouTube ads:

youtube.com
youtube-ui.l.google.com
youtubei.googleapis.com
googlevideo.com
ggpht.com
ytimg.com
ytimg.l.google.com
s.ytimg.com
ytstatic.l.google.com

Appreciated, but too much work for all that.

Gl-inet ideally should make the interface vor the VPN a bit like ASUSWRT… it allows you to connect to multiple VPN server simultaneously and then assign your client devices to connect to different VPN tunnels.

Unfortunately not. It never happened again since this day. I also noticed that DFS kicked in and changed the channel from 116 to 64. This also happened to my FritzBox. It even mentioned inteferences and weather radar on that channel 116 even though the next large airport is many kilometers away.

Same, I would like to have the hability to connect to 2 VPN’s and enable one only on a certain VLAN and the other one as global proxy on the rest of my network with the option to configure it based on domain names.
That would be a cool feature @alzhao

For those who keep asking about 4.6.0 heres some news for you, I wont be moving to it since Vanilla OpenWRT is working perfectly for me.

GL.iNet download center (gl-inet.com)

Do not enable Tor on Flint 2. You will lose your access to web interface. I have tried it several times with the same result, hopefully ssh stayed alive.

Still no 4.6.0 for MT6000, only 4.5.8, I’m waiting for the beta

Why are you linking the official firmware download page if you are happy with the vanilla openwrt one???

Release roadmap, and expected additions and fixes.

I want to use VPN for youtube in order to block/avoid all ads/marketing.

Are you sure adding these domains to be accessed by the VPN will stop YouTube ads?
You’ll just see ads from the country where your VPN server is located.

I believe its not possible to blocks ads on youtube with just domains

Often what ive observed is that youtube loads a video from a cryptic subdomain, but ads come also from the same sub domain.

It was possible to block them on ip level with certain client adblockers, but if that still works i don’t know, and there might be some vpn locations which may block ads due to the countries law.

Guess the trick @Steve68 used is that he redirects those domains to a country which don’t have ads (at least not at this time)

But tbh… this isn’t a real solution. It’s the same like buying YouTube Premium from cheaper countries.

Yes, some countries don’t have a YouTube partner program so you won’t see ads

Whether you consider it a real solution or not, it works (only on 4.6.0 if you have AdGuard enabled too), but you need a paid vpn provider, better than buying YouTube premium imo since ads won’t show up on every device on the network, anyways I just wanted to share the trick

YouTube Premium, in Argentina, is cheaper than a VPN subscription.

Yes but I got one since I use VPNs every time I travel, I have an Opal and a Beryl too, so for me it’s more convenient using it that way and it has the advantage I said

Beta 4.6.0 is out for the MT6000 GL.iNet download center
