Flint 3 (GL-BE9300) Discussion Thread

Glad (or sad) to see I'm not alone here!

Even when I'm very close the Flint 2 has a considerable speed advantage. It's been a really good router and the Flint 3 can't keep up with it.

Hoping things improve with time or we can get some official word if more people chime in with the same experiences.

(Apologies for double post, mistakes were made)

Anyone who owns Flint 3 encounters Wi-Fi speed drop after booting the router for a period of time ? (speed from 8..900 mbit/s to 3xx mbit/s )

One more issue: the Youtube video playing will suddenly stop(pause) then wait for a while then continue playing from time to time, I am sure it happens when connected to Flint 3 Wi-Fi, when connect to other AP on the same LAN(Flint 3 is the Internet gateway), it works fine with no issue.

Same here. I'm very disappointed.
Flint 2 coverage is much much better, this Flint 3 cover like my ISP stock router (weak).
I think I'll return this router. So sad :dotted_line_face:

I remember, when I got Flint2 (I think also preorder), Software didn't keep up. After some time however it was better. So let's keep fingers crossed.

same for me (flint 2 preorder), software was buggy but the wifi coverage was good.
this flint 3 seems has a weak or cheap antenna.
my isp wifi 7 router with internal antenna cover like the flint 3 with external antenna.

That Qualcomm SoC used on Flint 3 is not supported by OpenWrt community.

I guess you will need to wait until GL-iNet develop an stable and mature firmware for this device...
The only thing to do is: wait, patiently.

flint 2 has a very strong wifi coverage, why gl.inet didn't maintain that standard?
the mt3000 too is better than the flint 3 if you compare the wifi coverage.
can a firmware update increase the coverage like the flint 2? I'm not so sure...

When buying the successor I expected a better device than its predecessor, not worse.
At the moment the wifi coverage of this device is at the level of some cheapest no-name router.
In my opinion this is a tragedy.

yeah we know that the atheros chip is not powerful like the mediatek one... but the weak wifi power and coverage is a big step down.
Any comments from GLiNet staff?

To be honest, if I had known how it would look like I would never have bought this router even at the Super Early Bird price.
The only hope is in the GL.iNet team and a quick firmware update.
Otherwise I don't see the point of using this device.

and consider that we have a "30 day" return policy (a short time for firmware development).

Flint 3 (firmware 4.7.13 or 4.7.11, doesn't matter):

Flint 2?
600-650 Mb/s.

It's really not funny.
I don't know how such a product can be released.

I cannot agree...

Was exactly the same on previous Flint2.
Here is Flint3, 6Ghz and my ISP is 650/220

Plugin luci-app-ddns depends on luci-mod-admin-full and luci-lua-runtime.

Please install Luci in GL GUI first, and then install ddns.

Hello,

Sorry. The same issue in QSDK Luci:

This issue may occur all routers based on QSDK to develop. Our R&D team has been feedback to Qualcomm to improve Luci.

luci - already installed

luci-mod-admin-full - installed

But luci-lua-runtime is not available

This advice is valid only for FW v4.7.13 not .11 !!!

Please contact [email protected] to further troubleshoot wireless issues.

yes but flint 2 works on 5 ghz, flint 3 on 6 ghz.
same results are not good for flint 3.

Same test on 5Ghz (6Ghz disabled in Flint3)

What do you not agree with?
After all, I'm not kidding myself.
Everything is literally the same, only the router I changed and it is in the same place, the same network settings, I have the same walls and I will not tear them down.

From what distance are you testing the WiFi connection? Any walls?
I have 8 meters to the router + one 30 cm wall. Flint 2 in the same absolute conditions had 600-650 Mbps. without the slightest problem.
In this case, 3 meters from behind the wall Flint 3 pulls ~100 Mbps.
I even tested different antenna tilts, different RJ45 cables. No effect.

This is a problem with the Router and I am not isolated here with this problem.
