Flint2 has newer firmware version that continues to be updated, it did not stop developing.
Please continue to exepct. Thanks for your interesting.
I've a question about firmware.
I had contact with gl-iNet support about the flint 4.7.0 firmware that get wan disconnect issues when a torrent devicestarts with magnet link resolving.
After some email communication and sending my flint 4.7.0 logs they say they going to work on it.
Now i see that firmware 4.7.0 is gone from the GL-Inet website where you download the firmwares.
Latest stable is now 4.6.8.
So i update the AX-1800 from 4.7.0 to 4.6.8 (and manually add settings).
Why is firmware 4.7.0 removed?
Do we get update of 4.6.8 soon, because 4.7.0 had some extra options (I like the wan mac random at device reboot)
AXT1800 4.7 firmware has a bug in repeater and we called it back. Will have 4.8 directly.
Axt-1800 ?
I talk about the AX-1800 (first Flint).
It still has firmware 4.6.8 on website.
Not 4.8.0.
Any idea when Flint1 / AX-1800 get firmware update.
Fw 4.6.8 is from 17 October 2024 (long time ago, security issue?)
Or do we need to look for update from openwrt website (so no gl-inet software included)
I think @alzhao means that when 4.8 is released the Flint 1 will receive that too.
You can use 4.8 beta for AX1800.
Thank you.
Got 4.8.0 Beta 2025-06-04 installed, and reset settings.
It is working.
But Samba was missing (i install smb package for gli gui, that was solved).
But Network acceleration switch only has software option, not hardware accelerated. (can i fix that by installing a missing package?
I see. I was using other models.
So for AX1800 therer is no hardware acceleration.
Normally (in previous firmwares, like 4.7.0, 4.6.8 and older) it has option hardware acceleration or software acceleration @ AX-1800. Not auto.
I'd like to have the auto hardware acceleration at ax-1800.
Please compile the kmod-inet-diag package for Flint 2.
Hello,
There is Hardware Acceleration
and only this option in my AT1800 with v4.8.0.
There is not NetworkAcceleration
in AT1800 with v4.6.8.
But your AX1800 with v4.8.0 shows Software Acceleration
, which is a bit strange.
If possible, please try to reset firmware and check again.
Hello,
May I know what firmware version of your Flint 2, op24 firmware or stable firmware?
I would like to determine the firmware version, the next will confirm whether this plugin is compatible.
MT6000 -> Stable -> 4.7.0
MT2500 -> Stable -> 4.7.4
Thx!
I did a router reset.
When activate network acceleration, i still see software acceleration.
I also did reinstall of openwrt-ax1800-4.8.0-0604-1749001945.tar this time no 'keep settings".
Then also when activate network acceleration, i still see software acceleration.
I know for sure it has hardware acceleration at 4.7.0 @ AX-1800 (flint1)
Truly sorry, I just double confirmed it with R&D guys.
Maybe something info wrong
The hardware acceleration function of AX1800/AXT1800 v4.7.0/v4.8.0 beta firmware should not be useful. But in these 2 beta firmware, the wrong compilation was merged network acceleration to the front-end web UI, so displayed in the web UI, but it actually did not have any improvement.
At present, we have also reproduced the "software acceleration" appears in v4.8.0 beta, since there is acceleration issue in underlying driver, found that the network speed is actually lower in the test lab.
The AX1800/AXT1800 later firmware will remove the network acceleration function in the web UI, like v4.6.8/v4.6.11, etc.
Anyway, apologize again for the misunderstanding caused by this, sorry.
No problem.
I was just thinking: if AX-1800 has network acceleration chip (for acceleration) then of course we want to use it so the arm cpu get less busy.
But with network acceleration disabled, the ax-1800 is working fine with 4.8.0 beta5 (some small bugs, like error message at client view page, it say look at lan settings, but that is all ok).
And most important for me: the issue with magnet link resolving in 4.7.0 (that wan get disconnected repeatedly) is solved in 4.8.0
But does AX-1800 (flint one) has network acceleration chip? If so, can it be used?
Reason why i didn't buy flint2 or 3 is: the extra functions compared to flint1 are not supported by my clients. (not so new hardware, with new Linux distributions )
Gl-Inet rules with maintaining firmware, thanks to openwrt.
There is acceleration chip in fact, but the hardware acceleration driver compatibility is not good, so I think disable it, and the network experience will be better.
