GL-A1300 - AdGuard not able to add/update blocklists

You can also say that this is misleading customers. In any case, in the EU, where I bought the device, this is forbidden. GLiNET should be honest about the specifications about their products.

I like the GLiNET products, but this is rather disappointing, since I specifically bought this device for this specific purpose. It is replacing a still fine working AR750S, which can't run AdGuard (properly).

Google the 'Adg dns rule lite' somebody share in the Github, select the lite version, add it in custom list

Or manual copy and import in 'Custom filtering rules'

The lite list is here:

This works indeed, but it doesn't solve my problem. The device is advertised to be AdGuard compatible, but it isn't possible to use the default AdGuard block list. Basically, you are selling me a car and delivering a moped :frowning:

Moreover, the lite block list appears to be more for Asia than for Europe.

Exactly my point above. It's good to see GL.iNet staff is involved now but we need a solution instead of a workaround. I bought a Slate Plus as travel router but cannot use AdGuard on open WiFi's...

root@GL-A1300:~# free
total used free shared buff/cache available
Mem: 248616 90160 75900 2888 82556 106392
Swap: 0 0 0

75 GB free, 106 GB available, that seems enough memory to download a file of just 1.4 MB ...

If you want bigger filters which can not handle that small router then other option mini pc server such like raspberry pi or nuc pc. :unamused:

Nope. The router is advertised and sold with AdGuard. So it should work as designed.

It is basic to support adguard home. Your is advance which add more more more stuff and router can not fit.
Remember, adguard home is server dns. Router is not server.

That's not what the description of the router says. Moreover, it works fine when the file is downloaded manually.

And this work around is not something I want/can do when traveling (light)...

I will not argue with each other. But you need to understand what this small router is for? If you want more list filter then you need a large router, even a home/mini busines router. For example, Flint 2.
Or make at least a small server. For example raspberry pi, nuc, nas with emulator (qnap)..
I hope that there are no more options. At least put the 3d party of the dns server in upstream adguard home.

Yeah real travel solutions, putting a NAS in your bag. This should work, as advertised;

It does. You can use AdGuard Home.

Nobody says that you can download whatever list you want. Since you found a workaround, all is fine - just be happy that it works & thanks for sharing it here.

It does definitely not! The default blocklists don't load...

Did you upgraded newer version adguard home? If yes that is your problem.

Running AdGuard on my travelrouter GL-A1300 gives issues since the last firmware update to version 4.5.16.

Adguard is running but not loading the default AdGuard DNS filter list. Count stays at “0”. Also adding a new blocklist, does not work. I get a time out error in the right corner.

Time out looks like no Internet from plain isp dns🤔

Yes, as all the others over here... Ofcourse not.

"MB", not "GB", right? .. And, yeah, GL.iNet needs to be upfront about the limitations of the features it advertises - heard of footnotes?

After reversed my A1300 with U-boot to version 4.2.0 (2023-03-10), with AdGuard (V 0.107.8) works normal without DNS filter problem. Updated it to version 4.2.1 (2023-04-14) which it updates AdGuard to V0.107.26, problem comes back.

ALSO
Updated version 4.2.0 direct to 4.5.17 (2024-06-20) which also updated AdGuard from V0.107.8 to V0.107.26, DNS filter fails, seems problem relate to AdGuard V0.107.26.

Hoe GL.iNet supports can rectify this problem so that we can use my A1300.
Thanks very much.....
