GL-MT300N-V2 SAMBA not installed/working

Hi All,

I am unable to use SMB to connect to a mounted USB drive on the 300N-v2. There is no option to set up file sharing.
In LuCi, the USB is Mounted, but not available over the network.
v4.3.18 installed.

Not sure how to enable this.
Any thoughts?
Thank you for reading.

This function was removed due to performance / storage requirements.

Check How to install nas functions manually

Hi Admon,

From which version was Samba removed? Should I downgrade to 3.216?

Downgrading to 3.x is the most reliable way to get it back, yep.

Thank you. Now done. Still working through it, but at least the options are displayed to share. :+1:

Hi Admon,

Okay, so that is working as expected....welll almost.
What is the maximium size drive that can be connected? I tried a 2TB external HDD, seperately powered, but not showing. I restarted the Samba server, but no luck. I tried a 128GB, which works fine.

Not sure, tbh.

It's important that the file system is supported. Best go with ext3 (and maybe ext4), not with NTFS or exFAT

Good point. Existing data, and is NTFS. Which is supposed to be supported.

Never mind, in this case, I'll change my use case as: using my MT300N for in-car AP using USB tethering. Works very well. Easier than remembering to switch on and off HotSpot.
And I'll go back to v4... to the latest for efficient use.

I was hoping to try as a simple file server, but I'll dedicate a R-Pi or similar to this.
Many thanks.
