There is a 1.6Gb signal, and the Opal is only receiving 1-2mbs. I rebooted>reset> and even u-boot'ed. What gives? This thing is only like a month old, and constantly has to be reset. This is the first time I've had to re image, which doesn't even fix the issue. But it might be the last time I buy GL iNet products
Is this a permanent issue since ever, or did it start some time ago?
1.6 Gbps is too much for the Opal anyway, and mostly even too much for Wi-Fi at all. It's more a theoretically value than a real one. Where did you see it?
So the fastest the Opal will ever connect is 867 Mbps, so out of your 1.6 Gbps signal you have already lost half of it.
When a wireless client connects to a wireless access point, the access point asks the client what speeds it can do and what WiFi protocols it supports.
The Opal can support 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and so the wireless access point goes great and offers the slowest protocol possible.
So here's the problem.
If you have 802.11a and 802.11b enabled on the Opal, you're going to see 1 Mbps throughput as you haven't configured the Opal correctly and the access point doesn't care about the protocol being the slowest as it's not CPU intensive, the client is connected, what's the issue.
So to optimise the Opal please advise what you're connecting to.
It was receiving 800mbs last night. It's plenty, I don't need more bandwidth. I do need more than 2mbs. It has had hiccups many times. But a reboot or reset has solved it. I measure the opals speed with ookla on my laptop. I measure the source signal by doing the same with my phone. As previously stated my environment is
This did nothing. I woke up this morning to the opal doing absolutely nothing. I can't even access uboot now, to reimage it. It's too light for a paper weight. So basically, after 27 days of use, i have an absolutely useless item. From a company that refuses to offer support. I will never buy a GL iNet product again, I will rant about this experience in every forum I can find. I'm going to make sure Louis Rossman knows the name of this despicable company, and the trash that it generates. Absolutely worthless, all the way to Csuite
