GL-X300B Collie - Unable to connect with LycaMobile UK (EE) SIM

Hi, I have a GL-X300B Collie in the UK which works well with Tesco (O2) and Lebara (Vodaphone) SIMs but I can’t get it to work with a LycaMobile (EE) SIM. I activated the LycaMobile SIM in my Android phone successfully and copied the APN settings to the GL-X300B (where applicable) but with no success. LycaMobile say they only provide APN settings for iPhone & Android. Has anyone got an idea on how to get LycaMobile or EE SIMs working with the GL-X300B ?

Thanks

EE SIMs, from my experience, work automatically.
Lycamobile, if I remember correctly, do no offer data SIMs. They prevent non-phone use (tethering) and even then, throttle aggressively.
You can try using EE’s own APN (everywhere?) and changing the TTL to 65.

I’ve managed to get the Lycamobile SIM working with the help of another forum post.

Problem Notification & Solutions to GL-X3000/GL-X2000 fail work with EE SIM Card

https://forum.gl-inet.com/t/problem-notification-solutions-to-gl-x3000-gl-x2000-fail-work-with-ee-sim-card/59971

By running the following AT commands one by one:

AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","everywhere"

AT+CFUN=0

AT+CFUN=1

The APN settings were:

APN: everywhere

Username: eesecure

Password: secure

Authentication Type: PAP

The problem now is that you have to manually enter these AT commands every time you power up the router.

I’ll investigate how you automate this with gl_modem in a shell script via SSH by trawling through other posts. Any pointers on how to execute the script on power up and where to put the script gratefully received.

Thanks

I’m using MVNO SIMs because I want to assess which networks offer the best reception in the rural location where the router is to be deployed (battery powered, in a barn in a field) Lycamobile and Lebara etc. have cheap 30 day offerings. The Lycamobile APN details I copied from my Android phone after registration actually were EE settings with the MVNO settings blank.

I now have a partial solution using AT commands, thanks for your input.

How much data are you requiring a month?

Hopefully, less than 10Gb a month, there’s just a few ZigBee sensors and IP cameras.
