GL-X750v2 version update confusion

I attempted to apply 3.217 to this router via local upgrade, and after it rebooted and I checked the version, I am unclear on whether the update was performed or not. Under the “upgrade” menu item the “Current Version” field reads “3.104-3.217”, the compile date is 2023-05-08, and the last update is 3.104-unavailable.

The date looks okay for Firmware 3.217. Firmware 3.104 is not available anymore on the GL.iNet download site. Also, log into SSH and look in /etc/config/glversion file.

I do not work for and I do not have formal association with GL.iNet

Thank you for your help. Logging in and looking in the /etc/config/ directory, there is no glversion file present. There are other gl* files, but none of them contain versioning information for the router.

Did you resolve this problem? I have also just purchased the GL X750v2c6 in the UK.
Current Version 3.104-3.217
Compile Time 2023-05-08 10:37:25
Last Update 3.104-unavailable
I have checked for updates, and on the download page it has several updates for the X750 but nothing for the x750v2.
Having downloaded the latest for the X750 I get this message:
Firmware Verification
The uploaded firmware is older than the current firmware or is a 3rd-party firmware.
t make break the router due to hardware incompatibility.
You are also suggested to NOT keep settings.
Version Unknown
Downloaded version: openwrt-x750-4.3.7-1222-1703233128.bin.

Very confused .
How do I get rid of the downloaded file in case it tries to upgrade?
Where has it loaded and saved to?
Samba can’t be loaded , not enough space?

I would assume that the firewall update check is buggy and can’t handle the version 4.x.x so it will tell you this version is “older” or a 3rd-party firmware.

Just reload the page and upload a new one.

Limited by CPU performance and storage space, this version of firmware also does NOT include Network Storage fature. (Allow users to install via plug-in after exroot)

If you need samba and can’t use exroot I would suggest staying on the old version.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Do you think that the software update is OK o use then.?
Samba is not that important to me.

Since you can always go back if you don’t like it, yup, give it a try.

Cheers. See what happens!
Also after much searching I found this page

Not that easily found but answers man of my questions.
Feeling much more confident.
Hope this helps someone else
