Hello,
I have a brand new GL-XE300 (puli) 4G LTE Wireless Security Gateway. It worked for a couple of days but suddenly it stopped working. Now, no matter what, it never detects the cellular module.
Please see attached images.
Does rebooting the device work?
No, it does not. I have rebooted the device and I have reseted the device to factory defaults, nothing works.
Have you executed any AT instructions?
No, the interface does not give option for AT instructions since it says there is no 4G modem. I have seen such interface only when the 4G modem is detected, am I doing something wrong?
Was anything done to the module before the problem occurred?
Such as AT directives or plug-ins
We do some interventions to each router before deploying them with our own devices. We test the router when they arrive, then we remove the casing because it does not fit to our casing, we put the router in new casing into our own devices and we adjust some configurations LAN and WIFI primarly. Then we test our device for a couple of days and deploy. The malfunction began in the last phase, when the unit had a couple of ours of test in our own device. It began working as expected and suddenly it stoped registering to the cellular network.
Check to see if the module is loose.
Yes, and make sure you are using the original adapter
ok, I don't have the router with me right now, I have to wait to go back to lab and check your suggestion. We do use the original adapter, we actually disassemble the adapter as well in order to use it with the router in our device.
In the mean time, if the module is firmly attached, ¿do you have any other suggestion I can check?
ls /dev/ttyUSB*
Check that the router recognizes the module
¿where can I run that command?
ssh root@192.168.8.1
ok, understood, I'll be back as soon as I can check your suggestions.
Thanks.
I verified the module is firmly attached.
This is the output of ls /dev/ttyUSB*
command
BusyBox v1.30.1 () built-in shell (ash)

root@GL-XE300:~# ls /dev/ttyUSB*
/dev/ttyUSB0
It looks like the module went into some other mode
You didn't do anything with the module?
no, the malfunction of the module began during the test phase of our testing. It was already configured as needed and it worked for a couple of hours. Suddenly it stopped working and it has not worked again since that.
Here is an update. I removed the EC25-AF QUECTEL module off the carrier board and I test it in another carrier board of a working unit. The module works. ¿Does this means the carrier board is damaged?
Did you change the firmware?
Can you reset the firmware and check?
