Does anyone know when the GL-X2000 will be available for purchase in the United States?
@fpb Thank you for your attention. GL-X2000 is scheduled to be released on store-us.gl-inet in January and on Amazon in February.
Hello everyone. We are considering introducing a USB-C to Barrel Connector as an accessory on the gl-inet official website. This accessory will be compatible with models such as X2000 and X3000. Currently, we have two options, labeled 1 and 2. We would like to know which one you prefer. Your valuable feedback will assist us in making a better decision. Thank you!
I find version 1 better, as there is no tension on the adapter and therefore nothing can break off.
I make my own of version 1 and they are far superior to the right angle one (I used the latter on a Spitz 1 and it was very awkward)
If version 2 was "straight" then they would be equally good, IMO.
For RV setup version 1.
At version 2 in the RV, the angle would conflict with the antenna or the mounted wall. A not flexible but straight version, okay. But to get the power line away from the antennas, I vote for 1.
If I drill a hole into the mounting wall and hide the USB-C part behind, it would be a very pretty solution. But this will not happen very often.
IMO: Please add the USB-C barrel connector to retail package (as it is really cheap buying it in large quantities, and have the cables (in different lengths to your store)....
There is a third accessory that would make a lot of sense to add to your store:
an POE -->12V 2A Splitter like this one so you can connect it wit one cable to a POE Switch. I am testing it since two days, and it works like a charm
The USB-C barrel connector uses inductive PD output and doesn't strictly follow the PD standard. There may be potential risks if it is sold in official retail packaging. Currently, we are considering selling it as an accessory on our official website, and a discount will be provided when it is purchased together with router.
If I have to, I would get #1 it's more flexible
#1 would be the one i would go for. Im glad the team is considering this USB-C barrel adapter as an accessory. it would most definitely make the router more appealing to campers and travelers alike allowing the use of a compatible battery pack like i personally have been using.
Okay, understood & makes sense….
if you choose the 15V PD version, it would also work with Starlink Mini.
(the 12V version does not…) contrary to the Starlink Mini data sheet.
But you need to make it fit to your product portfolio….
I think 1 would be best. seems like it would have better flexibility to me.
I would prefer option 1 as well since it can be more flexible
Based on everyone's feedback, option 3 has been added and suggestions can be provided again. All three samples have been obtained and will be tested in a targeted manner.
Either 1 or 3 for me if I need to
I'd still choose 1 for simply the convenience of using any length USB-C cable as desired for placement.
Option #3 is clearly longer than 100mm. Right?
Either option #1 is good or #3 but the cord on the Spitz X-3000 is just a little too short for my liking. So, you’re better to go with option #1 and letting the user purchase their own preferred length cord but having a flexible adapter, as in option #1, would pretty much meet everyone’s basic needs.
Option 3 will be good as well, since it has less adapter/connection points. Less chance for an error because the cable won't fit tight.
But when 100mm is not enough, you need an extension anyway. And more users have USB-C male/male in their travel bag then male/female extensions. And the position could be important for LTE, not every power socket is near a window.
In the use case of a travel router, I would say option 1 is still the best.
