It has half the cores and half the memory of the A1300, which GL iNet engineering claims is too weak to run the newer versions of their firmware. This looks like a pass.
Wow, pretty disappointing with the specs! I'm guessing RAM won't be an issue if I use NextDNS instead of AdGuard Home?

Looks great! Half the weight and a third the size of the MT1300/MT3000/A1300, running on less than 1 amp. Wireguard speed on a par with the A1300 and OpenVPN almost 4x.
The reference to GoodPAS also hints it will have 4.10 firmware. Now looking for a price…
Looking great to me. Same memory but DDR3, 1GB port and 184 Mbps WireGuard speed in basically the same form factor as the first Mango.
Not sure what plans they have with the firmware, maybe a stripped down version? I personally wouldn't need all the fancy features of their latest firmware, that can go to pricier models.

Yes, 2.5x the weight, same volume in a flattened out form factor about the size of a credit card case. More packable, I think. Plenty of flash space.
If they can run 4.10 firmware on the Mango 2, then why did engineering claim that the Slate Plus with better specs could not due to hardware-related limitations?
Over 10 years since the original Mango shipped and the new version still has 128 MB of RAM. Sad

Maybe because Mango 2 is a mini router. As of today, mini routers don’t run more than version 4.3.
It is a mini router… specs seem ok and already ticks many of the boxes. We’ll see if it supports PD chargers and USB gadget.
I do not think these routers need to be able to do DPI, or Adguard, etc etc everyone has their own use case, of course, but it seems redundant to me when you can just phone home and use your proper DNS server, etc. there.
Specs say 5v and 1 amp for the router, so it should be able to use any USB C charger.

Not much new there, and I follow that even if he knew it was a 7621A he might not be able to say. He did say we could be looking at a price around €50-55. I will be first in line.
Oh? No limitations? I'm trying to understand how useful the Mango 2 will be compared to even something like the Beryl 7 or Slate 7. I'm not concerned about the relatively slow WireGuard speed because my real-world usage is typically under 100Mbps when I travel alone.
Yes that is a question we all have. An advantage is portability, you can travel lighter.
My use case is also a few devices when I travel, so if it can handle that, I am going to replace my Beryl AX with the Mango 2 and essentially travel lighter.
specs are behind the current by a large margin, thats frustrating..
but if it supports vanilla openwrt - it's still a great deal anyway.
