Well, one possibility I can think of is emails being delayed...
I noticed this with outlook when the subscribed mails went out (not the final release mail, but just that mail before), but this issue is known for me for some while, I think that outlook witholds mails for some time and later gives them free i guess to fight spam i find it kinda even a security risk lol, if their filters stop working my mail is unusable with the spam.
Honestly I think it is a much better way to check blindly just a few minutes before and refresh.
^ i don't have proof about the witholding theory but for me it seems to always be rounded up perfect every 15-30 minutes so that makes me a little sus.
I still haven't got the email, but at least I got my preorder in.

I saw it before the SEB deal closed. Didn’t matter thanks to the ignoranuses at the FCC. GL.iNet Statement on Recent FCC Regulatory Developments Which sucks because at $259 USD I would have absolutely snapped it up in a heartbeat. I hope when it does get ETA for release in the USA there’s a deal to celebrate. Even if it’s just the Pre-Order price it would still be a good deal for the unit.

As others have stated, that wasn’t the case. I added one to my basket at around 13.01 BST. Faffed around finding a 10% discount code and bought it at 13.03 BST, according to my confirmation. As there was a limit to 1 item per account, for the SEB offer, I have no idea what happened after that.
I was refreshing the page from 12.00 BST and it changed at around 12.30 BST, to something that looked like a pre-order page but, without the ability to actually pre-order. All respect due to GL-iNet as the sale started at bang on 13.00 BST as far as I can tell.
I got my pre-order notification email at 12.44 BST, so that seems to have been well managed too.
I now just hope the device works as well as they’ve managed the launch. 
Is it normal for GL.iNet to charge my credit card for the preorder? Typically, retailers charge after the product has shipped, not before.
It’s certainly not unusual. With all the stuff I’ve ever pre-ordered, I’d think the split was 50/50 between those that charge when ordered and those that charge when shipped. I’ve bought one and I’m not concerned they’ve charged me already.

Just like with other Flint product (eg. Flint 2), the firmware is still based on an old release (OpenWrt 21.02-SNAPSHOT) build with Linux Kernel 5.4

Certainly will. I have a 2.5 gig SFP and will certainly try it.
I’ll be doing the same with a 1Gb SFP BiDi. Typically, the SFP+ ports are backwards compatible, so it would be a real negative mark against the device if its SFP+ port isn’t.
1G / 2.5G / 5G / 10G should work on SFP port, provided the SFP is supported by the router.
I’ve personnaly tested with 1G Fiber SFP and 2.5G RJ45 Copper SFP and it worked.
I don’t have 5G SFPs but I've seen at least one report confirming that it worked with one 5G SFP.
GL.iNet is the one that will specify exact compatibility, but in my opinion, there is no reason why it wouldn't work at all.

Do you have a link to the 1Gb SFP module you tested?
I’ve just ordered one from FS.com, advertised as having generic firmware, that I used successfully in a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter 12.
I’ve used “Cisco GLC-SX-MMD” (fiber).
GLC-T (RJ45 copper) should work too.
