Hi, I bought your Opal travel router on a friend’s recommendation in the past and absolutely loved it.
I didn’t knew about the mini routers you offered then. So, I figured I’ll get the mini router as it would way more convinient to carry when travelling and picked up Shadow. Except for the form factor, I don’t like it at all. It’s really bad at wireless performance even when there is wired ethernet connection available to it. It doesn’t even have 5Ghz wifi. It also runs hot.
I was really hoping to make the case for making a similar tiny device with just 2 ports.
1 X WLAN port, and 1 X USB-C port for both data and power delivery.
That extra LAN port didn’t make much sense for a mini router for travel. I would have gotten the Beryl-AX or Slate Plus if I really wanted the best performance. No mode switch either. I liked the admin UI and once setup it’s rare to need to switch modes.
As long as it can offer somewhat comparable performance to Opal. Have 5GHz wifi and can pull off 40-50Mbs WireGuard speed. Keeping a really small form factor like 75mm x 75mm x 25mm then it would be a perfect travel router. If it looks just like a miniature Opal, that would be the icing on the cake.
