ProtonVPN and WireGuard Client - Finally

Hi all,

ProtonVPN recently allowed their customers to download WireGuard configuration files from their website. I tested it with Beryl and it is working flawlessly. If you are a ProtonVPN Plus customer I would recommend you to move from OpenVPN to WireGuard protocol on gl-inet routers. I am getting 4x speed difference

Later I will test it out with Flint :stuck_out_tongue:

Fantastic news, ProtonVPN is one of the few “good ones” in the sea of VPN companies.

I agree, Proton is one of the only providers I have experienced no issues with.

Any news on this?
This would be really useful to switch server if for some reason we need to

Not too much progress now.

Hello Gl-Inet, any progress on ProtonVPN wireguard integration since the last update in August 2022?
Thank you.

my wireguard speeds have droped badly on latest update and isp says proton vpn now lol

@alzhao - Is this integration still on the roadmap?

No. Proton don't want to support.

You shouldn't use ProtonVPN or any Proton products for that matter, they do not provide privacy and they spy on users

Any references? A lot of users use their email service as well.

They scan emails and attachments using their own version of xKeyscore. If you give me a secured email address to contact (not proton) I will give steps on how to trigger their spying so you can see it yourself. They log all VPN activity too but you can only prove it to yourself by getting arrested

Just write it here...

No thanks

Really? Damn I thought they were one of the good guys. I use both their VPN and email services.

  • The French government requested that Proton Mail engage in targeted IP address logging of a specific user in France. The request was made in a Switzerland court.
  • Proton Mail complied with the court order, logged the user, and provided the IP logs to French police.
  • French police then arrested the Proton Mail user.
  • Proton Mail then edited “we do not keep any IP logs” from its website… after the IP logging incident.
  • Based on 2020 Proton Mail transparency reports, there were thousands of data requests that year alone that Proton Mail complied with. When updating this review, we noticed that Proton AG no longer appears to publish transparency reports, and the old ones are no longer online.

That's good.
If someone break the law, they should go to the jail.

So they comply with the law...

So they started logging only that user after the court order.

They changed it to reflect that they do log if they have to according to Swiss law.

You can still find the numbers here: Transparency report | Proton

And to be honest, i have much more faith in a Swiss law abiding company then a lot of other (shady) VPN providers.
