Setting DNS names via Flint2

Have a Flint2, and have ‘named’ several devices in the router.

This is my main router, and connected devices use DHCP (some with fixed IPs), which includes the router as a DHCP provider.

But, can’t ping devices by the name set in the router -
eg ping: media: No address associated with hostname

How do I fix this?

This has been a capability of all my previous routers (? I think), that if I name the devices on the router, I can then ping them by that name, (ie if I run >ping media, where I have set media = 192.168.0.xx in the router, and it is also included in the hosts file) but this does not appear to be the case with the Flint2? Where am I going wrong? Tips for enabling this? Thanks.
