Hello,
I build technology at an interactive technology agency and I need to be able to access my network remotely. At the agency, we often work at events where we set up devices and bring our own WiFi using a Flint 1 (GL-AX1800) router and sometimes access points. Unfortunately, in many cases I don't have control over things such as NAT, setting up a dedicated IP, using a dedicated 5G connection, etc. - I have to work with what I have got, which is usually an ethernet cable.
Years ago, I set up a Ubiquity Edge Router X as a VPN client to a VPN server hosted on AWS, and I want to do something similar but with less hassle. I *don't* want to do that again if I can avoid it because it was a pain to administer. Ideally, I'd like to be able to pay for a service from someone such as NordVPN or CloudFlare who can run and patch the VPN servers for me and deal with resiliency and redundancy, issue configuration files for plebeian users, provide apps so team members can VPN in from their phones, etc. I don't expect I'll need to have "dumb" devices accessing the network remotely - i.e. all remote devices will be laptops and phones.
I went through this extremely useful and well-crafted thread thread: Best choice of products to set-up a secured remote access to my home network , however, the resolution was to remove NAT and use a public IP, which I don't have access to.
I am stumped by a few things:
- Are there services actually offer something like this? I can't tell if NordVPN Mesh does this and if it is already supported?
- How do I then set up that on the Flint routers I already have?
Thank you in advance for any advice!
