Slate 7

I applied for Beta, it will be interesting to try Slate 7 in place of about 15-18 other GL.inet products I already have deployed for various things and test how much of an improvment we get.

Hello @alzhao, can we have a little tease about the Slate 7? Will it be available in January for beta testers?

OpenWrt 24-based firmware would be huge

USB-A ports are still widely used. You can use an USB-A to USB-C dongles that work really well, I use them and they are dirt cheap.Yes I know dongles are a hassle and why do we need to use dongles when we can just use USB-C ports?? Cost and it's not just for port it self. PCB needs to be designed from ground up. Or just use USB-A cable since there are so many variations are available now days. I know I know, I also wish that everything was USB-C now days and all USB-C ports were 120Gbps and 240Watts, but transition takes a lot of time.

So it doesn't confuse people which port is for data and which one is for power if both ports are sub-c.
So people won't ask: why can't both USB-C ports be used for power and for data? Which would add more cost and require adding clear signage.

In 2025, it should be the other way around... use a USB-C adapter if you still use USB-A whatever..

Has the beta test program for the Slate 7 already started, or not yet? I signed up for it but have not been contacted yet.

The angle is not quite the same, but I used the USB 3 in the three photos as a reference for size, and I think the Slate 7 is slightly bulkier than the Slate AXT 1800, or possibly about the same size.

You can always start your own company and make wifi routers with usb-c ports. Its not that difficult in 2025, right?
