5Ghz Wi-Fi drops randomly every few days, 2.4Ghz drops at the same time but comes back up with 5Ghz down. I’ve reset the configuration, and it still happened; I can’t login or SSH to grab the logs.
I remember similar issues with beta versions that used the newer kernel, but this is just my guess.
Using official power supply, rolled back in the meantime.
Hi
To better understand the issue, we’d like to confirm a few points:
- Which firmware version did you upgrade from, and which version did you upgrade to?
- When the problem occurs, does it affect the wired connection as well, or only wireless?
- You mentioned being unable to log in or SSH to retrieve logs — was this because the router rebooted automatically, which may have cleared some logs?
4.6.11 to 4.8.2
- I haven't tested, will test when I have the backup router/AP setup.
- The router does not reboot. Existing connected clients on 2.4Ghz remain connected with unresponsive gateway, disconnecting and re-establishing the connection from the clients does not work in this state by Wi-Fi authentication failure.
I should add that an AP is connected to the Slate via WDS.
LuCI wasn't used and no custom modification on the second attempt.
Split wireguard VPN tunnels don’t work anymore.
With ‘split’ I mean that the AllowedIPs section contains a list of IP ranges which should go through the VPN (instead of 0.0.0.0/0). The other IPs go straight to the internet. And that latter does not work, only the AllowedIPs do connect via the tunnel.
I have switched off VPN kill switch and DNS masquerading but to no avail.
Given that you are using an Access Point (AP) connected via WDS, we have a couple of questions want to further check with you:
- Could you please provide the model of your AP? If it is a GL.iNet device, please also include the firmware version.
- Does the issue only affect devices connected to the AP, or are devices connected directly to the Slate AX also experiencing the problem?
More feedback.
Something wrong with the available package list.
I do not see many needed packages, like
- fdisk
- dawn (and luci app for it)
- etc.

Hi
I assume you want only IP addresses within the Allowed-IPs list to pass through the VPN tunnel.
This can be achieved using VPN policy mode on 4.8.x.
Please refer to the following documentation for more details.

Hi
Could you provide us with a specific list so we can ask the R&D team to see if these packages can be added?
Sorry, forgot to answer.
At least
luci-app-upnp
luci-app-dawn
luci-app-statistics
kmod-fs-f2fs
collectd-mod-sensors
dawn
tcpdump
fdisk
That’s what I use now, and not all was available in 4.8

Hi
We have requested the R&D team to investigate their availability, and if all goes well, they will be added to the repository.
I also have a couple of packages I depend on missing,
Thanks
