Hello,
I have now my internet connexion back at home, with a new ISP.
In France, we have a box provided by our ISP, it's a router with other functionalities as phone, and TV with another box called TV-Box.
With my Flint2 between the Box (server) and the Box-TV, the last one can't get a TV stream, so I don't get any TV channels.
I was told that I have to use igmpproxy and to set the firewall to let pass IGMP packets and UDP multicast.
If your TV box is directly connected to the ISP box (modem), does the TV box Ethernet cable need to be connected to a dedicated port of the ISP box?
If so, when adding a Flint 2 between the ISP box (modem) and the TV box, besides enabling IGMP, might VLAN configuration also be necessary to route the TV box traffic through Flint 2 to a dedicated port on the ISP box.
If you enable the IGMP Snooping on the GL GUI > NETWORK > IGMP?
I only have 2 cables, and the flint2 need to be on my ground floor. I don’t want it on the basement.
My question was : will the igmpproxy app installed with opkg works fine without interfering with the GL interface ? (As I was told here to not use opkg )
I understand it’s an old version, and I may be needed to go on op24 GL firmware.
It’s already ON.
But TV isn’t working .
Edit:
I must add that TV box can work with wifi connection with the isp box. That’s how I connected it for now to have TV, but I would prefer the wired connection on the flint2 to shut down the isp box wifi , the Flint2 is very good and all my network stuff is connected to it
I just communicated with R&D that IGMP Snooping in GL firmware may be similar to IGMP proxy. After it enabled, it allows multicast from ISP modem/box to reach the client (TV box) through GL router.
However, we do not have the relevant topology/environment to know whether the TV-related data reception and transmission are normal.
You may need to explore and test it.
BTW, based on our experience with IPTV, I remember the data of TV box and modem/box provided by ISP should be available via VLAN, not sure how your ISP handles IPTV data.
As i was told elsewhere, it may be a VAN 100 . Is it possible to forward such a VLAN from the WAN interface to the LAN interface ? The TV Box will be connected directly to one port of the Flint2 as they are near each other.
If you are going to setup the VLAN, may not need to focus on igmp/udp multicast, please try setting up a VLAN on Flint 2, that the IPTV (TV Box) data can be specifically through VLAN from TV box > Flint 2 > ISP modem.
