Could you please help us to check this issue if you now on MSC cruise ship:
If repeater enables Camouflage mode, still can't access the MSC portal login page?
Can MSC portal page be accessed only if VPN client is enabled?
Or you can access the portal page without enabling the VPN client, but after logging in, you still cannot access the Internet, and after enabling the VPN client you can access the Internet?
This thread was really helpful for me to setup internet in MSC Grandiosa, so I thought to share my experience.
I have a Beryl AX at home that act as a wireguard server, I bring another Beryl AX with me to the cruise. I connect iphone 11 to msc wifi and set it up first, for msc wifi setting on my iphone I turn off auto join and auto login, and set mac address mode to rotary. After successfully connected remember the MAC address of your iphone for the msc wifi. Go to router portal of your beryl, setup Repeater mode with the MSC wifi with MAC mode as clone and type in the MAC address you remember from iphone 11, and everything should work. Remember to already setup VPN from your client beryl ax to the server beryl ax before boarding. And also don’t forget to disconnect or turn the mac address mode for msc wifi on iphone 11 to disable before you connect beryl to msc.
Currently I can connect with 4 phones and 1 laptop with download speed 5mbps and upload speed 2.25mbps using one stream package.
May I know if Beryl AX does not enable VPN client, and without clone the phone MAC, connect to MSC portal WiFi in repeater like a normal tourist user, and enable auto-login and camouflage mode, after the repeater connected and got the IP, can the Beryl AX automatically obtain the MSC portal URL (Login mode for public hotspots), is it normal for the browser to access the URL?
I tried with the camouflage mode, seems like the Beryl AX can obtain the MSC portal URL. I clicked the hyperlinke which you marked as red, it redirects me to a MSC page, but the page keeps loading so after 2 minutes I stopped waiting and cancelled it.
I also have issues reconnecting sometimes in MSC, like Repeater is connected but VPN can’t, in this case just reboot the router.
And maybe mac address mode is better set to static? In my case after setting mac address to rotary I cannot connect iphone to MSC anymore, since I can’t set mac address for iphone.
If the MSC page does not load, I think there may be something need to check.
Please help us and test these:
When camouflage mode is toggle off, the repeater is connected to MSC WiFi, can the redirect link be obtained? Can the MSC page be loaded? Please export the syslog.
When camouflage mode is turned on, the repeater is connected to MSC WiFi, can the redirect link be obtained? Can the MSC page be loaded? Please export the syslog.
Please SSH to the router, execute cat /var/log/gl-repeater/portal.html, copy the result here.
The MAC address is better to be static I think, for MSC scenarios.
