WireGuard Client from Slate AX doesn't connect

Hey guys,

I’m trying to setup WireGuard VPN between Slate AX (GL-AXT1800) as client to my Asus RT-AX86U as server.

There isn’t much to configure to be honest - I setup new account on Asus router with private/public keys and pre-shared key, exported everything to a .conf file, imported the file to the Slate router but I wouldn’t connect for some reason - log file below.

OpenVPN works perfectly but would like to test WireGuard too.

admon, are you saying WireGuard is not supported the easy way on Slate AX router?

I’m not using ISP router - as I have mentioned the WireGuard server is sitting on Asus RT-AX86U

But regarding your topic:
Are you sure that the WireGuard port on your Asus is reachable?
Are there no conflicts of IP subnets?

LoL, makes sense now

It is reachable - I checked and I don’t see any conflicts - also tried to change /32 addresses without luck.

Could you please share a network diagram including IP addresses?
You can create one on draw.io for example.

WireGuard works perfectly now - I was just testing from the same network to the same network as OpenVPN worked that way. When connected from my iPhone hot-spot, it worked.
