Hello all! I just got this device and I’m having some issues.
- I get “192.0.0.2” ip listed when I connect to 5G. On the latest firmware I get the following on repeat and cuts my internet every 10~s or so.
user.notice root: modem ip different, now regain ip …
Wed May 24 13:25:49 2023 daemon.notice netifd: Interface ‘modem_0001_4’ has lost the connection
Wed May 24 13:25:49 2023 daemon.warn dnsmasq[19495]: no servers found in /tmp/resolv.conf.d/resolv.conf.auto, will retry
Wed May 24 13:25:49 2023 daemon.notice netifd: Interface ‘modem_0001_4’ is now down
Wed May 24 13:25:49 2023 daemon.notice netifd: Interface ‘modem_0001_4’ is disabled
Wed May 24 13:25:49 2023 daemon.notice netifd: Interface ‘modem_0001_4’ is enabled
Wed May 24 13:25:49 2023 daemon.notice netifd: Interface ‘modem_0001_4’ is setting up now
My internet works perfect the whole time till it cuts out trying to regain IP. So I reverted to 4.3.0 without regain IP and it works perfectly 24/7. ( Anyway to fix please so I can use newer firmware in future? )
However here comes next issue.
- Horrible 4G upload speeds. Cudy P5 on 4G, same bands, same tower, same wireless bandwidth/channel, etc can upload 24/7 around 50-60Mbit on any computer in the house. On the Spitz, my computer can barely upload more then 2MB/S and my other computer can barely upload more than 700Kbit/s. If I change to 5G-SA both can upload around 70Mbit/s no problem. Both have excellent signal strength/quality to both routers. I have tried ethernet too.
( Similar cellular connection strength/quality on both devices since I’m using external waveform antenna )
I would think it was the tower but the router has something fishy going on since my other computer is getting capped to 700kbps while mine is at 2-3MB. I tried changing wireless cards between PC just in case too but same results. Ethernet gave the same results. The second I go back to cudy p5 with same bands/same wireless settings the upload is perfectly fine on 4G and both computers.
TDLR: 4G uploads tank on Spitz vs Cudy P5.

When you upgrade to the latest, turn off the “Keep Settings” to have a clean slate flashing! There is a bug if you keep your configs while flashing! The beta firmware I am running without issue is:
Version: 4.3.1
Date Compiled: 2023-05-12 13:35:27 (UTC+03:00)
SHA256: 55c03c8c1cf6b36397004cf16df263bf0a02c76034c53b6ac89fdb17e00fc5d6
Try it and let us know.
Thanks I’ll try it later tomorrow. What is this bug though?
I’m still getting constant
“user.notice root: modem ip different, now regain ip …”
which causes
“Wed May 24 13:25:49 2023 daemon.notice netifd: Interface ‘modem_0001_4’ is now down
Wed May 24 13:25:49 2023 daemon.notice netifd: Interface ‘modem_0001_4’ is disabled

Wed May 24 13:25:49 2023 daemon.notice netifd: Interface ‘modem_0001_4’ is setting up now”
when the IP listed is “192.0.0.2” from the cell tower. Can anyone help? It drops out every time it resets the interface
Edit: Would like to note this doesn’t happen on v8.3.0 but when I try v8.3.1 it happens. ( I try factory reset + clear all user settings too )
Getting exactly the same behavior on my own X3000. 4G speeds are terrible, but 5G is good, except that the same interface up/down happens every 10 seconds.
I am using Google Fi, and never activated the SIM that I received, I wonder if that might be the issue? What SIM/Network are you using?
Are you using a data sim or a voice sim? Either way I’m fairly certain that it needs to be activated. Probably easiest to do on a phone and then move it to the Spitz
Using T Mobile sim, and it’s activated
interesting - Google Fi is a T-Mobile sim at the end of the day, I wonder if there’s something weird with t-mobile? Waiting for my proper data sim (Fi sent me a voice/text/data sim by mistake that I can’t activate) and I’ll report.
I have updated my router to the latest beta (June 8th) and behavior is still the same, i.e. constant disconnect/reconnect in 5G, and super slow speeds in 4G…
I still get the same behavior too
Not sure about speeds, but I get the same disconnects every so often as stated above. Using Tmobile. 4.3.0 no issues, anything newer keeps disconnecting. Says modem down

ok, Google Fi told me they had sent me a bad type of SIM by mistake, and I received the correct Data SIM from them today, that changed everything - I guess a properly activated SIM does make a difference, unsurprisingly. With that new SIM the modem is super stable, including on 4.3.0.
Fi uses t-mobile in the background, but obviously a SIM with the right configuration does make a massive difference - again, not very surprising.
