I just updated to 4.3.17 as it have important vulnerability fixes.
I never wanted to register here to complain but it is ridiculous!
When I purchased my router that’s was written that it is supposed to support NAS! Now it is removed! I bought only because of it!
I don’t want to install anything by myself. You wrote when I purchased it that it supports NAS. So it must support NAS. No matter what.
Also Tunnelvision CVE still not patched, but when I emailed support they told me that they will patch it!
Why are you guys misleading customers? If I know that it won’t have NAS in feature I will purchase more powerful one. I loved your routers but for now I am dissatisfied and disappointed.
@yuxin.zou can I have your comments? As support sends links to your posts, I think you can comment it, right?
Because it's important to provide all the information while complaining
So the GL staff can figure out whether Tunnelvision CVE was already fixed or not.
But I can already tell you that the file sharing feature won't be available if you don't install it manually. This can't be fixed. Installing is easy anyway: How to install nas functions manually
Yeah, I understand this. That is something you need to discuss with the GL staff.
Anyway, the "1005000000 actions" are more "1 action" - so it would be easier to do it instead of investing more time in complaining - at least it will help you more. In the end there will be only 3 options anyway:
It is untested. Nobody from team tested it to prove that this method will work without bricks or malfunction.
It requires SSH. I am not IT support. More over I don’t have any laptop (only tablets and phones).
I just want it to work. Not have a perverted actions to launch it meanwhile begging holy electron not to brick it.
It is just fake. It doesn’t do what it must. I don’t care about reasons. There is whole development team. Figure out something.
Before giving such advices or manuals support should provide with OFFICIAL video tutorial or at least with screenshots for EACH model. I am not geek. I don’t want to kill my time to learn how to code
SSH works fine from phones and tablets as well, many people here just used Android tablets. And they are not from IT support as well
I can understand your dissatisfaction and that's why I linked Bruce, as he works for GL - I'm just a technical contact and moderator here.
However, judging by the number of times the question about the missing feature has come up in the forum, I doubt that there will be any solution other than manual reinstallation or reverting to version 3.x
My point is not so much to defend GL here, but to offer you a solution.
Whether you want to accept this is up to you.
@admon thank you for your time. I am not arguing nor disagreeing. If they make it installable then it is okay, but in this case they must test that exactly this (or any other) model can work with this method and provide official tutorial. Preferably video tutorial. And preferably without something heavy to understand like SSH.
Hi,
Apologize for feature regarding the Network Storage.
For this feature, we have evaluated and based on the E750 hardware performance, in order to ensure the stability of the operation of the equipment in newer openwrt, GL will recover support this feature in version 4.6 again with support WebDAV and have less permission control.
Apologize again for that, version 4.6 is developing, kindly await. On the time being, can downgrade to version 3.x to enjoy the Network Storage.
Maybe I didn't describe it clearly, I'll explain it again.
The next time the E750 offers a functional upgrade (4.3.x -> 4.6.x) to the firmware, we expect to port the file sharing feature back. It will be on the GL interface, out of the box.
Right now we're looking at which protocols the E750's CPU can carry. Since you're concerned about vulnerabilities, you should know that the smb1 used by 3.x is poorly secured. We are looking for a protocol that has low performance requirements and is secure.

Here's the BETA Tab below the June 7 firmware being tested. If all goes well, it will be released this week as a stable version.
