AXT1800 Travel Router heating issue

Hello,

I have been using the axt1800 for almost a year now, but it has one issue, and that is heating , I had to buy a small handheld fan and place it close to the processor just to keep the unit form overheating.

I hope in future releases to include larger fan.

What are your router temperatures? What about your ambient temperatures?

Instead of putting a handheld fan, you could try to lower the threshold the fan starts.

I have the new Slate AX router. But it gets hot and I want to change the temperature when the fan is activated. At the bottom of this thread that discusses various ways of changing that setting there is a comment from GL-inet staff saying that “temperature control is available in firmware 4.1” and therefore they locked the thread from further comments. I found a way to set the gl fan!

When you commit it writes it to a config file in /etc/config - so it will be used when restarted.

Fan control workaround?

Hi first post here just got the GL-X3000 and just love it compared to my suncomm (02) box. The only gripe I have though is the fan only turns on after 158f or so. Saw a few posts on this but nothing concrete really. Has anyone figured out a solution or workaround? Got a clip on desk fan blowing on it now that drastically reduced the temps but would really like some more control over the internal. Thanks!

i never spent much attention on this - i have a AC in the appartment - but maybe i will afford something like this for the Slate and Beryl and just checked the Flint which is pretty handwarm
even when i put the WIFIs to very low TX-Power

I live in Thailand and I use it the router for 8 hours every day for work, after two hours it gets really hot, thats why I use the fan, thats why I am saying in new devices to have a bigger fan.
