this is 5G territory, unlikely under 300. see netgear nighthawk, they go up to 900. i expect 350 to 450. would pay both
Found a random site with this:
The Mudi 7 is scheduled for release in February 2026 with an MSRP of $369.90.
Release the Kraken!!!
Seriously!
So, I’m convinced, and sure I’ll want one. @bruce (et al.), can I put in an order now?!
Mudi 7 or Beryl 7?
I think Beryl 7 will be available soon, and you can subscribe to it to get the ultra-early-bird price.
As for Mudi 7, it will take a little longer. We’re working hard to improve some features, so it will be after Beryl 7, we are fighting for Q1 2026.
@bruce Me again with technical questions ![]()
Will the Mudi 7 have 2x2 or 4x4 MIMO?
How many 5G antennas will it have for 5G signal reception?
For cellular networks? Downlink (DL) 4x4 MIMO and Uplink (UL) 2x2 MIMO are supported in certain configurations of NR (5G) and LTE (4G).
I meant MIMO for WLAN.
And the antenna question did refer to 5G.
Yes, that one. It’ll make for a more-portable upgrade to my SpitzAX.
For Wi-Fi, 2x2 MIMO is supported.
6 x internal cellular antennas + 2 x TS-9 ports for external antennas
once this is released i can finally stop carrying both my netgear nighthawk and spitz ax with us when we travel and just use this one device (maybe paired with the beryl ax for hotels)…can’t wait. also looking forward to being able to put both tmobile and at&t sims in the mudi at the same time and flip between them based on whichever network is better at our location vs only being able to do one at a time in the nighthawk.
The technical specifications of Mudi 7 have already been published on the official website, but there are still a few questions that need clarification:
-
What modem models are used in Mudi v7, and will they allow for future replacement or upgrade? (For example, in Mudi v2, the modem is removable.)
-
Which base version of OpenWRT will be used in the firmware? 21, 22, or 24?
-
Will it be possible to read and send SMS messages using the touchscreen?
-
Will it be possible to send USSD requests and receive responses via the touchscreen?
-
Will it be possible to display customized information on the screen (from a script) or run custom scripts using the touchscreen (e.g., start/stop additional services installed via LuCI/SSH)?
Is there a significant difference in frequency bands between the EU and NA versions?
You can find bands comparison under “Mudi 7 .. 5G NR Frequency Bands” spoiler here Mudi 7 (GL-E5800) | 5G NR Tri-band Wi-Fi 7 Travel Router - GL.iNet
According to Band specs modem looks very similar to RG650V-EU, RG650V-NA
I am very curious about this too
Kind of disappointed in the band crossover on the GL-E5800NA and GL-E5800EU. As someone who splits time between US and Norge I was hoping for one device that could handle both but it looks like even if I get the EU version, it will struggle when in the US. Bummer.
The Mudi 7 is going to be released in February. The testing program is, I assume, done. At the very least, I’m sure they are not onboarding new testers.
Yes, the testing program is already closed.
They just sent out an announcement email two days ago saying it’s going to be released this month (February). The Brume 3 and Beryl 7 are coming out on 2/3, but it seems that the Mudi 7 will be a bit later in the month.
